Power Outage? Upon the slightest loss of power, my freezer will turn off. The panel light, the interior light...everything is off as if it is unplugged. NO, the unit is NOT plugged into a GFI circuit. Even a momentary flicker in our power will cause this problem to occur. To get it running again, all I need to do is unplug the unit, wait a couple of seconds, then replug. The unit is only 5 yrs old and this scares me! Thunder-storms frequently cause momentary outages in our area and if we were away, we could lose a lot of food! Any ideas?!? Thanks in advance! Jonny_L

Freezer stopped after power outage

If the sides are hot, look at the defrost timer. Sounds like it has stopped running with the defrost elements on. The compressor has a safety switch on it that opens either if the compressor gets too hot or if it pulls too much current when starting. If your power flickered a lot before coming back on, that triggered the safety switch. Now that it's running normally, I wouldn't worry. The defrost timer is your problem now.

Refrigerator GTH18IBXWW Control panel lights not illuminated (refrig and freezer settings and read out). This after a power outage.

Unplug it and see if it resets after you wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. If the outage was caused by a surge, it may have damaged the control board.

My Frigidaire upright freezer has door ajar & power loss lights on and stopped working abruptly. What could be wrong?

Hello Traci, thanks for your post!
Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is not working and lights are on. Have you had a recent power outage? I would recommend resetting your freezer and you can do that by disconnecting power from your freezer for at least ten minutes. If you restore power to your freezer and you continue to experience issues I would recommend seeking help from a professional technician for proper replacement of any electrical components. Hopefully this information is helpful to you for assistance with your freezer. -Matt

Hello I have an HMCF7W1 Magic Chef freezer, after a power outage the power light comes on, but the Run light will not turn on and everything is thawed. What can I do?

Perhaps the power outage, was caused by your freezer?
When you think a reset would help, the run light should come on, after a little while. But perhaps only the thermostat is defect.
Be aware there can be so many causes, and none has to be related to the power outage, for your freezer not to work.
It would be virtually impossible to see what is wrong, from a distance. Better try to bring the food to a working fridge and call a tech to solve the problem.

Emerson 2.8 Cu. Ft. doesn't automatically turn on after power outage

Check breaker. Was there a surge of electricity when the power went out. This may be a simple fix. Sounds like the breaker is tripped. Test the outlet with a light to see that power is to it.

Frigidaire ffu1767fwo (power spike) does not turn on can it be fixed

Hello tom97420 - Was the freezer unplugged during the power outage? It is best to be unplug unit and wait for the power to come back on, turn control to off, plug the unit in and reset control to factory suggested setting. Do not open freezer door unnecessarily if freezer is off for several hours. Make sure the freezer plug is tightly pushed into electrical outlet and not plugged into a GFI. Is the temperature control in the OFF position? Set temperature controls to proper setting suggested by owners guide or set to the halfway point and adjust it up or down as needed. If any suggestions are ineffective, contact a professional to move forward accurately. From what you have described the power loss could have possibly caused a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or wiring harness.

After power outage, no power at all to kenmore

Check the breaker at the panel, it could be that you have more than just your fridge on the same circuit and the breaker blew or fuse when the power came on. You should only have the fridge on a circuit, the same goes for a freezer and microwave and water pump and sump pump. Nothing else on those circuits. One appliance only.
