Just installed Norton Internet Security 2010 on my toshiba U300 ST3091 and since then the sound on my laptop doesn't work. i get a message saying there is no audio card detected.

Try reinstalling the audio driver.

You need to install hd audio driver. You can use the automatic update (in the control panel) to check and download the latest version of audio driver.

You should go to the Microsoft website and search for Windows 7 updates. MS releases updates regularly, so it's a good idea to check there frequently. You can also set your laptop to accept automatic updates from MS.

Can you please try downloading and installing the sound driver that corresponds with your operating system.

Usually this error occurs when Syncrosoft-Emu (H2O) is installed twice. Go to start menu Run type msconfig and go to start up tab. uncheck or disable cledx.exe , then okay
Reboot the machine.
When you start cubase you will have to start true emu manually to startup cubase.

If you have not done so already, hold down the "FN" key next to the spacebar and press the "F5" key. This sill cycle through the display options. Laptop only, External display only and both the laptop and external display.

If your laptop is like mine, it'll have a setting in Bios that needs to be changed in order to support XP.
In my laptop, there was a setting called Native SATA driver or something similar of that nature.
It took me quite some time to go through forums in order to find that out. Once that setting was changed, the notebook found the hard drive and I was able to install Windows XP.
