Canon camera SX10 IS doesnt turn on

The Time/Date battery is a small round lithium battery the size of a dime in the battery compartment. You can get the numbers off it and buy one at Walmart or Ebay.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as iPhoto.

try these:-

• connect it to pc and on it
• vaccum the barrel of lens
• changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
• shake it.
• on and off in different positions

May I suggest going to the Canon website, follow menu options Support and Downloads and look for a firmware upgrade.

I don't this its an error. I have used this Canon SX10 IS Camera for nearly a year now I haven't had this kind of problem.

Usually auto focus take few seconds to focus on object depending on distance and lighting. That might be the problem ?

this unit take AA right ok now it is funny that some AA do not work in canon camera. the best batteries for it are funny but they are the cheap batteries from dollar general the blue and yellow batteries. work great. the black and yellow wont work.

Maybe just an open fuse, maybe the main board, but I don’t think you can do too much on it. If your camera still under warranty, just send it for repair.

Turn the dial- the one that lets you select a mode. You have to be in certain modes to allow for super macro.... (I have a powershot S2) Try AV or manual, or a couple of others. There are a few that will not allow super macro. That's your problem. Good luck!

my a520 will turn on it shows wallpaper for a few seconds then it turns off

you probably just pressed the DISP button on accident (its on the lower right hand corner of the screen) to turn the screen back on, push the DISP button. if that doesnt work, i would get it looked at by people at Canon.
