Once tone/pulse appears there should be a way to hi light/select or choose either one.you must set it into memory. after it is stored, you shouldn't have to set it again before making other calls.

I have got a Panasonic KX-TG7220NL. Cannot change from pulse back to tone. How to do that?

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/Bluetooth-Enabled-Systems/Operating-Instructions/model.KX-TG7622B.O#ts

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG7622-MUL.PDF

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 18 of the manual for detailed instructions on how to switch between TONE and PULSE dialing. Basically it reads as follows:

Dialing mode

If you cannot make calls, change this setting according to your telephone line service.
The default setting is "Tone".
"Tone": For tone dial service.
"Pulse": For rotary/pulse dial service.

1 - MENU # 120

2 - Use UP / DOWN arrow keys to select the desired setting.

3 - Select SAVE and then OFF

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K
