Projection lamp replacement

My televsion recently indicated lamp failure was imminent so I checked the web for replace lamp prices. Contacted local authorized repair facility, obtained the lamp for just under $300. As instructed I replaced lamp buy the tv still did not work so they took it into the shop an now tell me that the lamp failed again an there was another part out an they did not recommend repair. I asked for a refund of the lamp since the all the web companys list 180 day replacement policys but I was told that is not the policy of this repair facility so I contacted Zenith an they also affirmed that it was not customary to refund for these lamps. Am I being unreasonable to expect a refund? I am now out $300. an have no television. This tv was exactly 3 years old when this occurred.

The only thing that would burn out another lamp so quickly is if the ballast assy was also bad.

Lamp of benQ projector switched off suddenly and failed to light again, but the power button is ON and the fan is working,so what are the causes and how to solve the problem?

Hi

It seems like the lamp has failed. The cause of this is because the lamp can only run a certain amount of Hours before it will fail completely. On some projector models you are able to view the expected fail date and on other there is a warning light on the projector itself indicating that the lamp has reached a certain amount of hours and failure is imminent. Replacing the lamp should solve your problem and is usually quite easy to do

Kind Regards,

I have a WD-62327 Mitsubishi. The indicator light

You are probably correct, but it wouln't hurt to check the lamp that is in there to make shure. You can download your owner's from "retrevo" and those manuals also give the web site for lamp replacement(toll free number) if you want the original or I found union electronics to have a good price on some of the replacement lamps .

My television Model 55PL9773/17 shut off?

Probably a bad lamp. The lamp is the number one cause of failure for this set. The good news is that these lamps are user-replaceable. Just open the sliding door on the back of the set and unscrew the two thumbscrews that hold the lamp into the light engine (the big black plastic assembly). Then pull the lamp out by its handle (the silver clip). look into the side where light is supposed to shine out to see the actual lamp. If it is not shiny and clear, it's probably no good. These lamps are literally available everywhere you go to get tv repairs done. Most shops can even test your old lamp if its condition is questionable. Average price is $150US and is most likely the cheapest repair you can have done to these sets. Just put a new lamp back in, reset the on-screen user menu, and you're good to go for another 5000 hours.

If the lamp is ok, I would recommend having an authorized service center take a look at the set. Since this set originally sold for around $3000US, it's most likely worth repairing. That decision is totally up to you, but a new comparable set will run you around the same price, and flat-panel tv's are much less reliable than the one you have already. Imagine hanging a picture window on your wall, with fluorescent lights behind it. How fragile is that???

I recommend authorized service centers because they generally have more expertise in repairing newer equipment like this set and can repair to component level. This saves you time and money, since you don't have to wait for the repair shop to order a whole circuit card (example) rather than just replace a chip and a few (cheap) small parts (which they stock). End result: you pay $200 less and get your tv back in three days instead of three weeks. That is, if they don't fix it in your home the same day. Either way, an estimate is cheap compared to the price of this set and can usually be done in a day or so.

Sony Grand Wega 60" indicator lamp blinks 5X green then 6 red

It is unusually to see BOTH of these flash codes together. I have never seen them at the same time. A 5 flash is a lamp driver error, which is possibly related to your lamp failure. You may have to replace the lamp driver or "ballast" to correct this problem. The 6 flash is a power supply problem and more serious, as it will likely take a technician to narrow down exactly where the fault lies. It may be a thermal fuse open OR a failure in the power supply itself. What was the original symptom that caused you to replace the lamp? Did you use an original Sony lamp as a replacement?
