I Pod shuffle (2nd. generation) won't hold a charge

Hold in the play button for 10 seconds to reset. If that fails:
iPod shuffle Software Update and Restore
Apple periodically updates iPod shuffle software to improve performance or add
features. It is recommended that you update your iPod shuffle to use the latest
software.
You can choose either to update or to restore the iPod shuffle software.
If you choose to update, the software is updated, but your settings and songs are not
affected.
If you choose to restore, all songs and data are erased from your iPod shuffle. All
iPod shuffle settings are restored to their original state.
To update or restore iPod shuffle with the latest software:
1 Go to www.apple.com/support/ipod and download the latest iPod Update. The update
has the latest software for all models of iPod.
2 Double-click the software install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the
iPod shuffle Update.
3 Connect iPod shuffle to your computer and open iTunes. The iPod Updater application
opens.
If you’re using a Windows PC and the iPod Updater application doesn’t open
automatically, you can find the updater by choosing Start > All Programs > iPod.
4 Follow the onscreen instructions to update or restore iPod shuffle software.
If you use the iPod Updater application and it doesn’t see that iPod shuffle is
connected to your computer, turn iPod shuffle off and turn it on again.

It blinks yellow-orange a couple times then nothing computer won't recognize

Make sure you don't have Windows Vista - if you do, then go to www.apple.com/support for the updated software (you can also download a full user's guide/manual from that website)
The 5 R's are as follows: The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with iPod shuffle. Try these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved. If one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems. â Reset iPod shuffle by turning it off, waiting five seconds, and then turning it back on again. â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod shuffle in iTunes. â Restart your computer, and make sure you have the latest software updates installed. â Reinstall iTunes software from the latest version on the web. â Restore iPod shuffle. See “Updating and Restoring iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.
Good luck!

Ipod shuffle

IPod Shuffle is fully supported under Windows Vista. There previously were issues with that but since have been resolved.

It sounds like you may need to restore your IPOD per this article here:

Solution

Microsoft has released an update for Windows Vista that addresses a situation where ejecting iPod from Windows Explorer or by using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature in Windows Vista could corrupt your iPod. Apple recommends Windows Vista customers who own an iPod install this software update. For information on how to install this Microsoft hot fix, refer to the "Update your software" section below. Tip: iPod can always be ejected safely by choosing Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes.

Update your software

Microsoft has made this Update for Windows Vista (KB936824) available via Windows Update as well as a separate download package. To download this update via Windows Update follow the steps below:

  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, select Check for updates in the Security section. If the Control Panel is in Classic view, open Windows Update.
  3. Click the View available updates link and be sure that Update for Windows Vista (KB936824) is checked.
  4. Click Install.
