RCA LCD Flat Panel HDTV and RCA Home Theater System--No sound

We purchased a RCA LCD Flat Panel HDTV Model L40FHD41 and also a RCA Home Theater System Model RTD3133. There was a yellow video cable with the sound system. The instructions stated to plug into the Video OUT on the receiver and Video IN on the TV. We have tried all Video IN jacks on the TV, but the sound does not come thru the speakers. Also, the volume knob will not turn. Can you give help on this?thanks,

Video comes from external device to TV - OUT on device and IN on TV.

Sound connects by the red/white cable set (or HDMI). Place set in Audio OUT ports on TV and Audio IN ports on DVD. Then select AUX IN on DVD.

Have a RCA flatscreen model # L40FHD41, blue power light comes on and stays solid but I don't get any picture or sound. Screen stays completely black as if it doesn't have any power at all.

Other than checking all the connections going to it for signal it is likely a shop repair.

The nature of these sets is someone must open and inspect them and check for voltages missing.

At that point it becomes a guessing game---try the boards (purchase them) and see if a bad board.

It is always possible the front screen unit or display has failed which is fatal cost wise.

You have to weigh the cost of repair, age of set and cost of replacement in this.

The only way anyone can KNOW which board is bad is to actually remove and replace it----most shops look at it and shoot you a high estimate.

let me know if you have questions.

How do you connect the speakers on to your flat tv. I read it on the manual that u have to use HDMI, but i did. It still won't work.

This model has speakers. If you are trying to connect external speakers i.e. a home theater system, receiver or a sound bar you have a couple options.

This television only has hdmi inputs so you cannot connect the external speakers with hdmi cables. The television would have to have and hdmi output.

Now in order to use hdmi you would have to connect all your devices to the home theater and then go hdmi out from the home theater to one of the two hdmi inputs on this television. Then you would leave the television on that hdmi input at all times and switch devices with the home theater remote.
All the devices would be connected from their respective outputs to a respective input on the home theater.

Another option is to connect a fiber optic cable from the television to the home theater.

Another option would allow for stereo sound but not the higher quality surround sound. You can connect from your televisions red and white RCA outputs to the RCA input on the home theater.

How do I turn off my internl speakers on an RCA model L40FHD41 TV? Nothing in the manual about this.

Some HDTV's have options under the audio/sound settings in your tv's menu. If it is possible to turn your speakers off than that is where you wil find it. However if you cant find it in there another quick solution is to just turn the tv volume all the way down. Why do you need to turn off the speakers?

RCA universal nor cable remote will program RCA L40FHD41 TV

might be able to use the cable co remote and autosearch thru the codes, but its too hard to explain, the cable tech should have ran that procedure. unfortunately, rca has 50 million models. it is common to have a tv and yes rca for sure, to not take the codes. sometimes the tv is too new for the cable company remotes to work. i am leaning toward the tv too new theory. give it six months and i bet there will be a new remote version.

How to hook up my 32" vizio lcd hdtv to my sanyo home theater

If your audio system doesn't have optical inputs you're going to have to use RCA (red and white) jacks.
I would suggest upgrading to a system in the future that does have optical inputs if at all possible. Excellent sound.
