MAPI error message when import or export messages in Outlook Express

·You import mail from Outlook into Outlook Express, but you removed Outlook from your computer before you tried to import the mail into Outlook Express.
·You configure Outlook Express to be the default Simple Messaging application programming interface (MAPI) client.
·You import or export mail from Outlook Express, and you do not have Outlook installed on your computer.
To resolve this issue, try one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.

Method 1: If you want to use a special program you can use Outlook Express Fix Toolbox

https://www.fixtoolbox.com/outlookexpressfix.html

Method 2: Change your MAPI Settings

Configure Outlook Express to not be the default Simple MAPI client before you import the mail items. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Restart your computer, and then start Outlook Express.
2.On theToolsmenu, clickOptions.
3.On theConnectiontab, clickChangeto open theInternet Propertiesdialog box.
4.On theProgramstab, click an e-mail application other than Outlook Express in theE-maillist. ClickApply, and then clickOK.
5.ClickOKagain to close theOptionsdialog box.
6.Exit Outlook Express, and then restart Outlook Express.

You can now import or export messages.

The difference between Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express

1 :Outlook Express was developed as part of Internet
Explorer with the home user in mind while Outlook
was developed as part of Microsoft Office with the
corporate user in mind.
2. Outlook Express is a basic Internet mail program
that is part of Internet Explorer and Windows.
Outlook is a full-featured personal information
manager that is available as a part of Microsoft
Office and also as a stand-alone program.
3. Outlook has a host of features that Outlook
Express does not have, such as a calendar,
a task list, a journal, and automatic backup into
archive files.
4. Outlook can be programmed using Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA) but Outlook Express cannot.
5. Outlook also has a very powerful Junk Mail feature
6. Outlook has message rules for both incoming
and outgoing mail, while Outlook Express can
only filter incoming.
7. Outlook Express was designed for use on a single
computer and so its message store and settings
cannot be stored on a server. Outlook however
was tailor-made for networks, and so its message
store can be on a central server that many
machines can access.

Message recall

Outlook Express 6 was intended as a way to download your mail and view it locally on the computer its used on. In most cases mail accessed with Outlook Express was done so using POP account settings, resulting in the mail being deleted off the main mail server (in your case, verizon) and leaving only the copy of that email sitting on your computer in Outlook Express.
Of course if you were using more customized mail settings, its possible to keep the mail from being deleted from the server and have access to it from other computers or being logging into your mail account through a web browser like Firefox or Chrome, etc.
So to answer your question... If the email still exists on the server (verizon) then yes it can be done. But then accessing your account via the web would be far easier than doing it with Outlook Express.
On the other hand, if the email cannot be seen on your verizon account online, then accessing it with Outlook Express will not be possible. If its not there, its not there.

If the email physically exists on your computer in Outlook Express, then regardless of the account it was received through, it should still be there. If you changed your computer logon information, you might have inadvertently switched identities, resulting in your mail appearing to be gone. It could still be safe and sound, but hiding under another mail identity. You can find this by looking in your menu in Outlook Express for switching identities. If you see more than one identity available, switch to another and look for your mail.

I hope this helps.

Message: Outlook Express has encountered an

Hi,

Most likely there is a email with a virus in one of your outlook express folders. Download a 30 day trial of Kaspersky internet security and run a full scan on your computer.

Alternatively, you could try creating a new Identity in outlook express, only problem is you wont be able to access your old emails. But you can always switch back and forth. To do this Click on File – Identities – Manage Identities. Here you can create a new one and configure your email settings. Though this may work, this may only be a temporary solution.

Hope this helps. Please rate your feedback!
Thanks,
