Registry problem?

Someone is use to using Windows, not a Mac. As far as I know, Windows is the only operating system that does use a registry so no, you do not have a problem with your registry. This can be done in a couple of ways.
  1. Boot the old laptop and copy the files onto a USB drive.
  2. Using Firewire, you can mount the old computer on your new one as an external drive.

Is there an equivalent program on apple like regedit?

Apple has files that contain the same type of info as the windows registry .

They are referred to as .plist files.

Example:

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences

There is not a typical registry.

Mac OS 9.2.1 on a G4. won't start up-just get a

sounds like your system is corrupted. Put you install disc in and boot up holding the c key down on your keyboard. Once it has booted up go to your hard drive and open up the system folder and then move the system file and the finder file into the trash. Go back to your install menu and click install make sure you do not do a clean install as you will wipe all your data. Preserve your users. Once it is installed it will put a new system and finder file on your machine. You may need to probably need to set up various items as they will have returned to default. Hope this helps.

I can not get my mac beyond the starting up mode.

Without knowing more about your machine, try this: after the display of the happy Mac icon, hold down the Shift-Option keys. That should start you up without any extensions. If your machine starts up with no extensions running, then there might be a corrupt extension in the batch.
A good resource for self-troubleshooting older OS' can be found here: Magical Macintosh Key Sequences. It gives you the startup key sequences to troubleshoot through startup.
Hope this helps! I'll be checking back to see on your progress!

My mac os 9.2 will start up then while loading it

First check the install disk to make sure there are no scratches on the CD. Before the install use the disk tools to reformat the drive. Choose the zero-our option to remap the hard drive.
Mac OS 9.0 should be a free download from Apple.

Hi i fprgot my password?

Hi,
You did not specify what that's for. However, I will try to guess what do you mean... Ok this is what you gonna do, boot PC and strike F8 several times until you scroll to safe mode. Once you are in, go to contraol panel and choose user accounts. There you can change your password. You don't have to guess lost password there all you have to do is put new password and confirm it.
Blessings.

'disk is full' error msg sending even a small (3mb) attachment

I might be asking the obvious, but what's your overall available space on your macintosh's hard drive? Click once on the hard drive icon and then press Command-i (the "Apple" key + "i" key at the same time) to find out what available space there is. If there is very little space (say less than 100 megabytes), clear some off.

Can not load new mac software

It seems that while installing Mac, you selected a password for admin, and so, before installing any software you should insert the password.
If your Mac has not any admin password, I suggest you that make an admin password and now check to install your software by your new password.

To know about the diffirence between Mac & Pc

Mac is an Apple product, whereas a PC "began" as an IBM product. There are folks who are adamant that one is better than the other, and there seems to be a general perception that Mac has better abilities for handling graphic/artist type tasks. However, as software is much more widely available for PC, updates and upgrades are released earlier, and PC's are not as expensive, I have always stuck with that. I believe that is also why there are so many more PCs out there in use than Mac machines. Thanks for rating FixYa!
