External Hard Drive will not post "Cavalry Storage CAUI35160 Hard Drive"

I have tried changing out the cables, searching for the drive and all of my other drive work fine on my system. When I plug the drive in it makes an audible sound as if it is registering but nothing in My Computer. I didn't recieve any software for the unit but I guess that if there is some out there I would need to know where to find it.

Hey there koskinen. It appears that your problem is one of several possibilities. I would first suggest that you ensure your hard drive is formatted correctly. This will need to be done to allow your computer to read it properly. You can do this to a secondary drive using the "computer management" selection found from your "My Computer" page. Follow prompts. If the external is not recognized, try installing it internally on your ribbon as a slave drive. Second, the main issue is to ensure your connection inside the external is properly seated, as is the power connection. Next ensure all external connections to the box are properly seated. Lastly, ensure your connection to the computer is a valid working port. Please plug another device into the port you are using to ensure it works.

External Cavalry drive is no longer recognized by Windows XP Professional.

Microsoft has a fix for external hard drives. It involves a registry change to accomodate USB peripherals. Hope this solves your issue. Good Luck!

Broken Fan

You should be able to open up your external hard drive enclosure, find the right size fan, and order another one from almost any online store for cheap. You may even be able to go to some computer store nearby you and you may be able to get one there.
