Polaroid PDC 2300Z - USB on a Mac

I was given this camera (see subject) without a manual, and used the enclosed digi-USB cable supplied with it, and set the camera to "PC" but nothing comes up on my Mac desktop. I tried rebooting computer, turning camera On and Off... un and re-plugging cable; all the usual troubleshooting things.
Is this one of those "Windows only" situations?  All I want to do is transfer pix to my computer (Mac G4, OSX 10.4.11) and even my cell phone comes right up on the screen!  If this IS a PC only thing, is there anything I can get (different cable, etc) to "convert" so I can use this camera with my Mac??
Thank you in advance for your help!!!!

Sadly some makers think only Winderz get support. You might look in /Applications for Image Capture which comes with OS X If you still aren't seeing anything usable you might try Graphicconverter (shareware)  GC is pretty good at pulling stuff out of grumpy devices

Found a Polaroid PDC 3070 on the beach years ago. Downloaded the manual today...what usb cable is needed. Do I need to order the driver download as well?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

USB port with the PDC 640 camera?

The Polaroid PDC 640 digital camera connects to an available 9-pin serial port only -- it does not support the use of a USB/serial converter. However, you can use a SmartMedia Card Reader with the camera's reremovable memory to download the images via the USB port to your computer.

Can I use the PDC 700 with Windows Me?

The PDC 700 camera TWAIN driver is not 100% compatible with Windows Me because it does not support USB downloads. No new driver software is available from Polaroid -- however, a compatible TWAIN driver is available from a third-party source. The Pretec DC-800 is the functional equivalent of Polaroid's PDC 700. Pretec's DC-800 Setup Disk for Windows 95/98/ME/2000 is available for download at its online Driver Download Center. Testing done by Polaroid has shown that this driver works with the PDC 700 using the listed operating systems, including Windows Me. When accessing the camera with image editing software compatible with the computer's operating system, the camera driver appears as Digital Camera 1024X768 Driver.
