Dell 22" monitor goes black

Hi

I think you have TFT monitor? If you are having TFT, the issue was occurring because of two problems.

1. Might be your monitor FL invertor was faulty.

2. Or your monitor FL light having problem.

Check with any local service person. Whether FL invertor or FL light having problem?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the fact is you have a very old monitor. My research tells me that it is almost 10 years old.

The obvious problem and the one most likely is that the power board inside the monitor is going. It is common in LCD monitors of this age. Do yourself a favor and junk it and replace is with a new larger better monitor. They are so much better these days and so much much cheaper.

You can get a 22 inch wide screen monitor on Walmart.com right now for $104.00 and pick it up at your local Walmart with free shipping. Not advocating Walmart necessarily just pointing out. Recycle your old monitor responsibly and pick up a new one. No matter how cheap it is it will be better than what you have now and your current monitor is not worth a technicians time.

If you don't have the money for a new one go to your local thrift shop and get a working 17 inch for $20. Good luck.

This is a problem with power /Invertor board.Contact Asus Service,normally there is a 3 year warranty.

your monitor probably got some bad capacitor.. you will need to open up and replace the faulty component...

Your monitor probably has a bad power supply right now. It might have some blown capacitors. Bring it to a local repair shop. They'll be able to easily know the problem by using a tester.

well i have a dell 22'' monitor and it did exactly the same thing , turns out its a fault with the invertor drive transistors ( these power the fluro screen light ) , i'm in the uk , but i would take it straight back to walmart along with proof of purchase and tell them it dont work and ask for a repair /replacement under warranty

Sounds like the computer is shutting it down and the monitor is fine. Check for viruses then check your settings in device manager for the screen saver and power down (screen off) options.

The monitor is going bad. Either going to be a bad screen or a bad inverter. Also Since you tried it on another computer and its still giving you the same symptoms, you know the computers are fine. To be sure, try another monitor on your computer and if you get video on the new monitor then thats another way of verifying that the dell monitor is bad.

You will need a new monitor screen. I have had two screens go on me recently and what you describes normally happens

make sure the video cable is inserted firmly. is it is, the video cable wires are loose inside the monitor which it is not getting the signal, telling it to go on standby mode.
