ACER Aspire L100 Desktop is dead?

Won't power on. Fan turns on, but that's it. Won't boot. Monitor briefly comes on to show a black screen then goes to standby mode. Tried unplugging everything, then held the power button down for 30 seconds. I read somewhere that it sometimes works. Nothing. Still dead. Any help would save my life. I need some important files off of the hard drive so I can transfer them to my laptop. Thanks.
I know very little about computer hardware, so if you can speak in basics it'll help me understand. Thanks again.

If the hard drive is OK then you can remove the hard drive from the desktop case, and insert the hard drive into a USB 3 1/2" hard drive adapter case, this should come with a power adapter. These are available at your friendly computer shop.
Boot up the laptop then plug this USB hard drive adapter into the laptop's USB port. The laptop will see this as an external USB hard drive. You can open the various folders and files on this external drive and copy the folders and files to the laptop.
You can delete the Windows folder and Program Folders on this external drive to free up disk space and use this as a back up drive etc.
If you are not sure how to remove the hard drive and install it into an USB hard disk case, then I suggest you get a computer savy friend to help you.

I reset my surge protector and the computer wont power up. i think i need a new power supply. the power cord is working fine. Please let me know where i can find a power supply for the aspire...

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Let me know if this helped..

    Acer Aspire L100 heat problem

go into the BIOS and disable the smart fan. The next boot will allow the fan to run at full speed, approx 7200rpm instead of 2800 rpm and the machine will not overheat. However, its will sound like an aircraft on takeoff!
