First of all the lamp timer can not be reset by unplugging the TV.
Second: Use a vaccuum to clean the fans as using a can of compressed air ONLY causes more problems then its worth.
Third: Technically a Philips lamp is concidered a generic to Sony at least. The good news is Philips made the lamp in the first place anyway.
Hi,did you close the door cover?Make sure itsproperly shut other wise it won't tv light up. Reset the lamp
timer? you can do this by unpluging the set for 5 min
and plug it back(works for most sets). Was the fan
running ok? You can clean it w an air pressure
can. If you heard clicking or like wanting to turn on the problem could be with the board that powers the lamp. The board it's called the ballast. If its not able
to provide the power to the lamp it will not turn it on
and the red light will blink. Also did you get the original Philips lamp if you got a generic that
could be your problem.God Bless you!

No it is a black screen. Hard failure. The lamp doesn't fire at all.
I appreciate the prompt response. The door is properly closed. I unplugged the TV several times, even let it sit for a day, then two. It did sound like the fan kicked and everything was running, just no sound or picture. I purchased the bulb directly from Sony, but honestly the old bulb didn't look bad either.
The TV has actually been at a repair shop for the last month. He claims he has checked the ballast and that is not it. He suspects the it is the optics block, but I hate to spend the money on a gamble. After researching more, I guess there is a chance for the C board to be bad, which I believe is part of the optics block.
The green steady light usually indicates the lamp has fired up and is running. Do you get any on screen displays or menus at all?
