Hi,

Sometime by holding "FN" and pressing "Spacebar" brings the screen back, or hold Fn and hit the F7 key.

If its not the F7 key then it maybe F5 or F6.

Regards.

To switch the image between the notebook display and the video device display, repeatedly press the fn+f4 hotkey. Pressing the fn+f4 hotkey switches the image among the notebook display, the connected video device display, and simultaneously on both displays

I think you have to reset through setup F12 or is it F8 restart and push one or the other, then locate menu for screen click to enable.

Haven't come across this before. Best I can suggest?

Most laptops have a "toggle":

* output video to both internal & external.

Set the "toggle" to the best value.

Try hooking up an external monitor. If the external monitor is working and showing you what you are used to seeing, than you just need to switch the laptop back to it's regular display mode.
There is a key that looks like this
'o'
you need to press the function key and this key (usually f4) at the same time to switch displays.

Desktop wont stay on screen drops to white screen blank

First thing you should try is hooking the laptop up to external monitor. It's usually easier to hook everything up, THEN power on the laptop. Most laptops will detect the external monitor and automatically provide video, some models require pressing FN+F5 Just examine your laptop keyboard carefully for a pair of icons that looks like two monitors.

If you get external video then more than likely the lcd on your laptop will need to be swapped out. If you don't get any video it could be a GPU or memory issue.

let me know what happens and I can guide you along.

I have a hp pavilion ze 2000 and when I turn it on the two lights by the scroll and caps lock key blink and the screen stays blank. Please help me!

Hello, I'd start by hooking up another external monitor, that way you can rule out if your video/graphics card is working. If the new monitor works that means your video card is fine and you'll need to look at replacing your current monitor Good luck, mpawlak908

Laptop screen blank at start up

If it still doesn't work when you hook it up to an external monitor, assuming you did that properly, then it is your motherboard/video card.

If you have a seperate video card, I would replace that first. If you don't have a seperate video card, then you need a new motherboard.

FIRST - I would try hooking it back up to an external monitor, and making sure you switch it over to use the external as the default. otherwise you wont get picture.

Sorry... good luck.

Hp ze2000 shuts down

Without more information I cannot be sure, but I would say that it could possibly be set to use an external monitor. There is a FN key command to switch between your LCD Screen and an external screen. Try that. If you have an external monitor that you can plug into the VGA connection, that should tell you for sure. Good luck.

Monitor is blank!!!!

Firstly, the LCD+external setting will switch one or the other or both on.

Secondly, if you go into your display properties (or even the advanced page where your video card additional features are) you can usually select which monitor is "primary".

I suspect that your external display is primary, and the LCD screen is not "enabled" or used as part of the desktop.

The settings are all there, it's just a matter of finding them (depending on what video card is in whatever laptop you have)

This might have happened in the first place if you accidentally hit "Fn" and one of the "F" keys up the top. Fn + F6 on my laptop will switch LCD/external monitors on and off. (for example) There is usually a little blue picture on one of the "F" keys to denote that function.

Laptop Screen faded white

There are a couple of possibilities.

1. A cable has come loose inside the computer4.gif.

2. A cable has become defective.

3. The LCD is defective.

If you wiggle the LCD back and forth and you can get the picture to work again intermittently then answers 1 & 2 above would be more likely.

Blank screen

I think your LCD is stuffed is it under warranty do you know BUT if the screen is cracked they wont replace it typical HP. To get your external monitor running hold down the function key and the blue monitor looking key similtaneously normally on compaq its the F4 key but look around your keyboard (looks like a monitor) and is blue letters.
