You are going to need an original Mitsubishi remote--I do not think in the main menu there is a way to do this without the remote: PART NUMBER FOR THIS REMOTE IS: 290P111010

Almost any Mitsubishi remote that has the FORMAT button on it will work.

If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy the cheap universal GE or AT&T remote and plug in the code they give you in the manual for your TV.  New remote for cheap price is the way to go with the way the economy is now a days.  Cheers old chap.

What is the brand name and model number to your TV? Provide more details please. If the TV has no 'Menu' button on its front panel, you must have its remote control to select inputs.

I lost remote is there away to manually change tv black panels back to full screen like the aspect button without a remote? the tv is a hitachi 51f500

Unfortunately, most of these projection TV's require a remote. You CAN purchase an aftermarket remote. I would look for one that has all the features you need, PIP, screen format etc.... I have found that the Sony RM-VL600 works real well with my Mitsubishi TV... kids thrashed the remotes more than once...
This particular unit has system control PROGRAMABLE buttons on the bottom row. I've been able to program them for formatting the screen, setting audio and video... Solved my issue of needing a factory remote... KEN

This was a reasonable price as well.

Mitsubishi wt-42311 picture is to long.

Its all in you remote.you need to turn off cable box and then tv. then turn on box from remote and then tv. I have the same problem when someone in the house turns it on incorrectly. make sure you can see the network sign in corner of tv complete then you have it. you may need to do it a couple of times. tv off first then cable box. or tv on then cable . its been awhile since i had the problem

Picture out of alignment

I would open the back, behind the screen and see if the mirror mounts are damaged. if they are it could be almost impossible to alighn the set properly. good Luck
