Picture out of alignment

I'm know somebody who has a 2003 Mitsubishi wt-42311 42" rear projection TV that they are selling for $300. During the move from Cali >NY the top of the cabinet was damaged. It looks like the movers stacked boxes on top of one corner of the TV and it was squished a bit. The actual damage to the cabinet is minimal. It almost appears as if the cabinet melted a bit. It is not cracked or punctured in any way. When the TV is on the picture is out of alignment on the corner with the damage. The picture on the left side is about 1 inch lower then the picture on the right. The picture on the right is also slightly lower then it should be I think. Subtitles or scrolling text are difficult to read. Is this something that can be adjusted back relatively easily (and cheaply)?

thanks, I'll give it a look when I go over tomorrow. Is there a tutorial for adjusting the mirrors somewhere that I can read before attempting this? I have experience in soldering circuit boards so I know not to touch any capacitors. Thanks for your help!

My Tv has red light (color) out of focus..I've tried tuning the lance but it's not the problem in the lance..it's something else..don't know what..do you?

Your TV has three picture tubes which are aligned to properly converge the projected light beams on the screen. Each picture tube projects a single color of Blue Green or Red. During production your TV was carefully adjusted to properly align these colors. As a feature you have the ability to adjust these colors.thats called convergence. If you don't have a manual to show you how to adjust you can find one here http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/support.html

Picture out of alignment

Look in the menu for a manual alignment. From there you should be manually able to adjust each corner and overall color alignment unless other damage has occurred. Try that first.

Rear projection tv

Hello,

Have you checked your convergence correction Amplifiers? These usually go bad. I believe they are the STK392-XXX (XXX stands for the last 3 digits) Mitsubishi uses the 500 series,They should be replaced with new ones and the bias resistors need to be changed also.

I would suggest taking it to a shop to have the replacement done, but if you want to do it yourself here is a site that can help:
http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/79118/

There are many other sites that can help you install the ICs but this one is very accurate.

If you need any help in removing and replacing the ICs let me know and I will be able to walk you through the process(be prepared to take picture to help me see what you are looking at so I can help faster.

Thank you,
