Blown protection circuit at best. Blown power supply and IC's at worst. Send it to a service center for an estimate, educated guess without having it on a bench in front of me $150-200 repair. To test for the possibility that it's not the amp, disconnect speakers and turn power on. If it stays clean, no"protection", check your subs for a shorted voice coil. Hope this helps.

Logan, You must be very desperate, to put the same question her for the tenth time. Yes you keep using different words, but it all comes down to the same. I already gave an answer yo one of the questions. I think you should read that. It has not much to do with the power cabling. It has to do with what you are putting on the output.

make sure your amp can hold either .5 ohms , 2 ohms or 8 ohms...... by my guess your amp is either 2 ohm stable or 4 ohm stable and you have them wired down to .5 ohm.....this will cause it to overheat and kill your amp. check out the12volt.com it will give you wiring guides for hooking up subs.

THE HA2000.2 AMP WAS WORKING FIE FOR A WEEK THEN THE PROTECT LIGHT CAME ON AND WE DONT KNOW WHAT THE POBLEM IS

Disconnect the 12v from the amp and let it sit for a minute then hook it back up. This will reset protection. It needs to be completely disconnected from the car.

Check how the subs are wired. Make sure they are not wired to 1 ohm. that amp is not stable at 1 ohm. It is at 2 and 4 ohm. make sure the subs are not wired any lower.

the ohm load is the main reason for an amp going into protection.

Ran it at 1@ now it has low power

Hello if your amp is the one above in the picture, MTX-1501D then your amp is not 1 ohm stable. Your amp is rated at 500 watts x 1 at 4 ohms and 1000 watts x 1 at 2 ohms. The amp has a safety circuit that if it senses to low of a load, ohms, it will only put out half it's power to protect the amp from shorting out. Read the manual. You can download it at retrevo.com or just google it and a manual download site will be in the search list. Hope this hels, Good luck.

I have a JL Audio 12 ich subwoofer rated at 8 ohms. also a mono block insignea amplifier at one ohm stable 1-4 ohms. how to i wire it safley? possible?"

Your amp based on what you say would have no problems whatsoever with an 8 ohm load, not even if it actually has dual 4 ohm coils and you wire them in parallel giving a 2 ohm load (don't know your particular sub).

Every good car amp has protection circuits to prevent itself or the speakers from damage from too low loads so it shouldn't be a problem even if you screw up with your calculations. A good amp should even be capable of dealing with a dead short on a channel, zero ohms, activating protection of course.

Good luck and don't worry!

Amp problem

Some amps very in what will happen first, some will blow the fuse and some may go in protection mode or the sound will come and go.

Hi yeahonda,

Your Kicker L7 Ohms may be too low for the MA Audio Mono block amp. The MA Audio Amp is probably 2 Ohm Stable. The kicker will either be 2 ohm or 4 ohm Dual voice coil.   To eliminate the low ohms as a possible threat to causing the map to go into Protect, Wire the kicker Voice Coils in Series.  This adds the ohms, so that you either have 4 or 8 ohms.

I am using the following codes to show wiring. VC1+ stands for the Kicker  Subs Voice Coil #1 Postive post. AO+ is the MA audio Amp output positive.

AO+ to VC1+

VC1- to VC2+

VC2- to AO-

This shopuld give you 4 or 8 ohm depending on the 15" L7 setup.  Crutchfield does not carry the Kicker  L7 in 15" They do  have the L5 in 15".

If you know how to read a Volt Ohm Meter, set it to OHMs 20 and measure across VC1+ to VC1- and you should see between 1.5 and 5 ohms..  Do the Same with VC2+ to VC2-.  you should see the same voltage. Also read from the Voice coil metal housing to VC1+ , VC1-, VC2+, and VC2-. and you should not read any ohmage to the case. The meter should say OL, or -1.

Good luck.

DUB2502 amp

you probably have the speakers set to where it ecxeeds the ohm load limits. its only 4 ohm stable when bridged and two ohm stable when ran using two channels. so either run the speakers at 8 ohms each parallel or just hook one speaker to eack channel. if you do not know what i am talking about then just email me at [email protected] and give me the speaker specifications.
