Help me to resolve a problem with my Router

Help me to unlock my router D-link dr615, cause i need to use it with my laptop?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Is it a brand new router? Can you connect the laptop to the router with an ethernet cable first? That's the place to start - then you can discover the IP of the router to login to its interface. Default IP address for a new d-link router is 192.168.0.1

To access the configuration page of the Dlink router, use a wired computer or directly connect your laptop to the router using an ethernet cable. Then open any internet browser and in the address bar type: 192.168.0.1.

Select Admin from the drop-down arrow and then enter your password. Leave the password blank by default. If it doesn't work, then you will need to reset the router.

At the back of the router there is a reset button, hold it down for 30 seconds.

Then try again to access the router. Reconfigure the router's internet connection, depending on your ISP. Under Setup>Internet page, click the Internet connection Setup Wizard button to automatically configure the router.

Then for the wireless settings, go to Setup>Wireless Settings page, then click on the Wireless Network Setup Wizard to configure the wireless settings.

My laptop can't find the router

Hi Ted,

If your Laptop cant find your router there are things that you need to check to be able to know if the problem is caused by the router or by the computer. On your computer you can check if the wireless adapter is properly installed or check if the wireless switch is on. If your not familair with the wireless switch of your laptop you can refer to this link. Just find the model of your laptop. Then after you enable the switch of your laptop you can check the Wireless Settings Page of the router if the wireless is enable.

To access your router you need a working computer connected to the router then open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1. the username is admin and the password is blank. Go the the Wireless Settings Page and under Wireless Network Settings make sure that there is a Tick or a Check on Enable Wireless.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I've got a sylvania netbooklet model# synet7wid. Need help getting onto our home network (cable modem with Belkin wireless router)

Try resetting the router (unplug for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---next---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

My new Lenovo thinkpad sees my D-Link Dr615 with a good signal strength but fails to connect. Both my other laptop and desktop connect just fine. What can I do?

My housemate and I have the same problem with our ThinkPads.
Apparently there's some compatibility issues with the wireless cards in some ThinkPads and some wireless routers.
Try a Belkin router - if you're in the UK, go to Maplin and buy one. If it doesn't work, you can return the router to Maplin and get your money back.

good luck

Hello I have a D-Link DR615 wireless issue. it automatic set to FREE wireless. why?I used to have password and also assigned a name for it. but now the Assigned name is NOT in the wireless network, instead...

Hello,

It seems as though your router was reset to the default settings.
In this case, you need to connect to the "DLINK" network and reconfigure the router.

If you have the disk, you can use that to run the setup, or you can log onto the router itself and configure the settings.

To log onto the router, open a internet window and type in 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
This will log you into the router.
Now simply select "wireless" and then wireles security and you should be able to set up the password again.

Thanks,

Pat

I set up my d-link dr615 with my pc. Seems fine.

Hi, you need to make sure that the wireless AP is enabled on the setup. Switch your laptop wireless on and see if you can detect the wireless network as available. You now need to click on the the network and click on connect. If your router is configured with WEP/WPA security you will be prompted for the security key. If you don't know what this is you can change it in the router configuration.
