My NAD C 541 cd player will not play any discs. I open it put the disc in and it tries to scan and then rejects the disc and opens on its' own. There is the word 'over' in red below the track number indicator and I can't get rid of this. Is this what is wrong and how do I fix it. Thanks Lindsay

Kmbois had right! I tried to fix my nad c541 by changing the powerdiodes, a big condensator and 4 smaller ones. Zero result: the tray still did not want to finisch lifting up the cd to the player position. So last try (after spending a new laserunit etc.) was going to the local repairshop, buying some belts and using the tryal and error method. First belt (1.6 mm) was not thin enough, second belt, although a bit to small, did the job :).
Now I'm looking for the right size and ordered different measures from a dutch website.

It could be the belt for the tray mechanism. Tray closes then motor is pushed up to CD. If belt slips or physical mechanism is sticky CD will not spin and tray will reopen.

Hi, I have a NAD C541i cd player when i turn it on i get three blue line on the display, i open the draw and insert a CD disc but the blue lines stay on the display and the disc don't play. can you...

The blue lines you mention should flash when trying to find
the 'Table of Contents' of your CD, even if a CD isn't loaded.
If when a CD is loaded and these lines flash for a while without
any CD info e.g track no. / disc length then it's more likely that a problem has occurred with the laser.
Various NAD CD players use the Sony KSS-213 Laser unit
and for some reason particularly with NAD CD players, they tend
to drift out of calibration over time so what i usually do when i come across this is very finely adjust the pot trim on the laser itself and testing a CD between adjustments.

On loading a cd in to my C 541 it seems to freeze, indicates 'no disc' and makes a clicking/whirring sound. Will not play anything at that point. This happens with genuine, bought CDs

Hi,

Seems that your player is looking for the index on your CD.
You can try to clean the laser carefully.
If your not familiar to do that, ask somebody.

Everytime i play the disc, it would say loading , then after 10seconds the tray disc would open and say cannot read disc. please check the disc

Put in an ordinary audio CD and play to notice if the CD is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility that the laser head can be defective.
Now certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it is not read. Hence it will reject. So it is ideal to clean manually the laser head eye using a cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

Nad 502 CD will not recognise and play CD every time

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens, or misaligned loading mechanism. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more

My NAD cd/dvd T550 displays NO DISC.

I have the same problem. When I insert a disk, my NAD T 550 DVD player displays 'No Disc'. It started with new disks while still reading older disks, but at some time it stopped recognizing any disk. Did you receive any suggestion yet or has anyone a suggestion?

Discs will not play.

Could be some dirt on laser lenses. Try to clean it.

Tray won't open

What your husband is doing appears to be the right approach. Looks like the CD was not inserted properly and must've gone out of its seating and preveting the door from opening. Just pusing the CD back to position should take care of it.
