Kmbois had right! I tried to fix my nad c541 by changing the powerdiodes, a big condensator and 4 smaller ones. Zero result: the tray still did not want to finisch lifting up the cd to the player position. So last try (after spending a new laserunit etc.) was going to the local repairshop, buying some belts and using the tryal and error method. First belt (1.6 mm) was not thin enough, second belt, although a bit to small, did the job :).
Now I'm looking for the right size and ordered different measures from a dutch website.
It could be the belt for the tray mechanism. Tray closes then motor is pushed up to CD. If belt slips or physical mechanism is sticky CD will not spin and tray will reopen.
Put in an ordinary audio CD and play to notice if the CD is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility that the laser head can be defective.
Now certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it is not read. Hence it will reject. So it is ideal to clean manually the laser head eye using a cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board
