Acer Aspire 5610 LCD backlight problem

Hi!
I have Acer Aspire 5610. Problem is connected with LCD display's backlight - it doesn't function. From this forum I got to know that 99,9% is damaged LCD invertor. I found it in ebay, replaced damaged, but there was another surprise. Monitor backlight was in dark dull red, slightly blinked, and after about 2 minutes it turned off again. And more - when backlight was on, there was some strange, silent crackling sound, coming from inverter. Where else can I check to solve this problem?

    Already repaired!
Problem was in dead CCFL bulb. I've replaced it, now laptop is usable again.

If it is less than 1 year old, go to http://www.acerwarranty.co.uk for UK or http://support.acer.com/ for US.

I did this last year for my girlfriends laptop backlight problem and it was a free courier both ways and was repaired within 2 weeks (new part required). No cost to you.

Otherwise, sorry I dont know how to fix it.

I thought that highlighting the warranty, It may help but now I have an average score of less than 90%. Cheers :-(

I can't get my Acer 5610 Laptop to connect to my LG LCD TV. It just says no signal.... I am using a 15 Pin VGA Cable.

Once connected the LCD press Fn + F8 to switch the monitors. You cannot use both the screens at the same time.
If pressing Fn and F8 does not help Try other combinations of function keys with Fn

Black screen my acer computer just stop showing anything on it...all memory is intact but nothing else shows

looks like you have lcd backlight lamp bad, you can try connecting external monitor to make sure the computer boots up, also you can use flashlight to shine directly on lcd screen to see if there are any images showing, if that works you can order backlight lamp from ebay replace it and enjoy ;) if you never fixed electronics before do not try to do it yourself, find somebody who knows how to do it, it is tricky

Acer 5515 backlight not working also bootmanager missing

You need to fix the boot manager problem first by connecting an external monitor to the laptop so you can see and do a system repair.

As for the backlight problem :-
You could have a faulty CCFL lamp or inverter, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

MY ACER LAPTOP SCREEN TURNS ON BUT THE SCREEN IS BLACK

To determine if you have a video card problem or the LCD screen is at fault.
Connect an external monitor to the video port on the laptop and boot up your laptop, if you get a display on the external monitor then your video card is OK and you have a faulty LCD.

When you power your laptop without an external monitor and have a close look at the LCD screen at and you see a slight image then the fault is with the backlighting panel. This fault could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL backlight lamp.

Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
The inverter can be easily replaced so can the CCFL lamp (but requires a lot more work)

Moniter will not show

Attach a external monitor to the laptop, it will have a VGA connection on the back or side. You will need to press, function and one of the F keys, F5 or F8 which are standard ones. So function and an F key. This will rotate the display from the laptop to the monitor and vice versa. If you get the display on the external monitor then you have an LCD or inverta(controls power to LCD screen) issue.

If there is no display to the internal or external, then you have a bad motherboard.

No Backlight when powered up Acer 5610.

Mine does this too. It is the inverter. Of course it goes wrong as soon as your warranty expires. It can result from Best Buy sending you the incorrect battery and them insisting to put it in even though the voltage doesn't match...

You need to replace the inverter. This page should help:
