Hello, Well it sure sounds like you have a defective battery.I have several DX6490 cameras and have bought brand new batteries that were defective right out of the package !!!! MADE IN CHINA, need I say more ? Quality control is not one of their finer points,Try another battery from a different supplier there are many on E-Bay. This will probably solve your troubles. Best Regards, Russell
The DX6490 accepts SD cards, which top out at 2GB. Cards bigger than that are technically SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into SD slots, they will not work. SD cards will work in SDHC devices, though. So, you're limited to 2GB.
It's a hardware thing, which no amount of firmware updating can change.
a jpeg is not a standard photo file. You want to set it for jpg. Take the USB hub out of the connection. Connect the camera or card reader directly to the USB port.
Hello, This happens quite often and the bad news is it is not worth the cost of repair, the good news is you can sell it on E-Bay for parts and by a good used one to replace it.If you buy a good used DX6490 you can still use your battery, charger, and other items from your old camera. I have several very nice DX6490 units that I sell. Best Regards, Russell [email protected]
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
Hello, Your Dx6490 uses a SD Memory card so all you need to do is buy a small memory card reader and hook it to your PC with the USB cable that comes with it.These units are real cheap. Good Luck And Best Regards, Russell
Hello Billy, Sounds like a Windows OS problem, have you tried rebooting the PC ? You may have to uninstall the kodak software and reinstall it. try plugging the camera in directly to the PC with the usb cable. One of these should solve your problem. Best Regards, Russell
Hello Tina, Try to connect the camera directly to the PC using the USB cable and see if this works, if not uninstall the Kodak software and do a full reinstall. Best Regards, Russell
By far the best solution is to buy a memory card reader, If your PC is usb2 you will be stagered by the increase in speed.
if there are pictures on the internal memory you can use the copy feature to move the images to a memory card.
If you dont have a memory card get one also, the DX6490 will take upto 2gb cards, if in the uk mymemory has 2gb cards for 7.99ukp..
A couple of things to check is that the camera is the only USB device attached to the PC as some devices interfear with each other. and you may want to try another usb cable although its a kodak's own cable type so your unlikely to hve one spare from something else.
Beyond that, try reseting the camera (although im not sure if internal memory pictures will be lost) I dont have my test unit available and cant remember where/iff the dx6490 has a restet option, the other way to reset is remove the main battery for a few hours, if the clock is wrong when you re insert the battery its reset...
