My didgicam is Canon IXY Digital 5mp AiAf. Once i've turned on the camera there are no images coming out in the LCD and when taking pictures... is the lens broken or just a tweak o settings?

If it's an S500 (IXY Digital 500), then get it fixed for free by Canon. This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. that is not a malfunction, if the "display" button is pressed, the LCD turns off, (black), but if the mode switch is rotated to movie or panorama, it comes back on but will go black again if switched into the other 2 modes. when in one of the 2 modes that show black, simply press "display" and the LCD will come back on.

FYI "GURU", the CCD malfunction manifests as a purple colored screen with various levels of distortion, not black

First make sure that you didn't accidentally turn off the LCD. Turn on the camera and press the DISP button once.
