Motor head will not tilt back

I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage series, model 2349. The button to tilt the head back will not release the tilt mechanism. It pushes in but the head will not tilt back. (This site will not let me enter model 2349.)

Push down slightly on the head and then the button will go in further and the top will release. ((this answer after I just bought it home and was about to take it back to the store!!))

But you got it entered. LOL Ok,does the button seem or feel like it is depressing or engaging anything? Unplug the unit and split the shell . The top part should come off. then you can see what is wrong. do not run while disassembled.

And just HOW do you split the shell? I've had the back off AND the bottom off and the only screw I found to separate the 2 parts is at an angle that I can't get my screwdriver in

The tilt release on my 2350 model will not release no matter what I do. Am I just over looking something?

A screw has come loose and is jammed. You need to take bottom cover off and loosen bolts in neck (2). This will seperate neck from motor head and you will find loose screw jammed in tilt section.

I can't get the tilt release to release to raise the mixer . I have a batch of cookie dough in the bowl and I am unable to raise the mixer

Try running the mixer for a few seconds to clear anything out from under the beaters, like a chocolate chip. You can also try pushing down on the beater end of the mixer, press the button and lift.

Sunbeam Heritage Mixmaster Won't Tilt back

Hi

Most of them have a button to push that releases the mixer head to tip back. Sometimes the buttons stick and will not release. That picture looks like you are using the Heritage model.

You have to remove two parts in order to get access to the piece that was causing the problem:

1) The "torpedo" shaped knob that sticks out from the mixer speed dial;
2) The speed dial itself

Both of these pieces clip-in, and can be removed with a screwdriver by pressing in on one of the hooks that hold them in place.

After these two pieces are removed look for a small washer right below the motor (it is sitting on top of the upper portion of a screw) -- in my case this washer had come loose; tighten it with a 1/4 size wrench (you can also tighten it by hand to release the tilt, it will probably become loose in the future if you don't tighten it further, but if you don't have the necessary tools this will at least allow you to get your tilt unlocked).

On another note, after tightening this washer you may also notice that the tilt release had become easier to use -- previously you may have found that you have to press the tilt release button very hard to get the tilt to unlock.

Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Sunbeam mixmaster jammed, will not tilt back

That picture looks like you are using the Heritage model, which is the one I just fixed for myself.

I hope this helps!

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series Model 2350 speed problem

The speed control on the back is simply a variable resistance potentiometer, the same thing that controls the volume on older amplifiers. The output current to the motor is supplied by the printed circuit board in the bottom of the unit. This allows gradual increases in speed to avoid over-torquing the motor on speedup. Even the poshy-posh-posh mixers do this.

At least it still works. The most common problem is the cheap plastic drive gears that strip out with a mild cookie dough, this jams the beaters together and requires burial-at-dumpster.

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage series

I hope this helps. I found on mine that the rear screw on the "neck" had become slighty loosecousing the release to not fully disingage. I had to remove the dome shaped cap in the middle of the speed control knob, pops off fairly easy, to gain access to the nut to tighten it. Hard part was trying to hold the screw head still while I used a small screw driver and small hammer to tap the nut tight, very limited space between the "neck" and motor body.
