If it says lens error all you have to do is try pushing the lens back in. If that doesnt work, sorry! lol =(

1 MSG WHEN POWER IS TURNED ON 2 LENS ERROR -

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Hi,Have got got a canon(powershot a710 is) whenever i turn on the camera i get a few beep noises and the screen remain black with the message'lens error, restart the camera'....and it then turns off.....I...

The lens is jammed. Usually dust or grit gets in the mechanism and causes it to stick. Could try blowing down the side of the lens but it will probably need taking apart and cleaning. It is not an easy job to do but it might be worth trying as it would probably cost too much taking to a repair shop.

CAMERA FROZEN..nOTHING WORKS. sAYS "LENS ERROR. rESTART CAMERA"

try to remove the ring over the lens- this is just alluminium ring. I had same problem when my camera felt on floor... i thought its wrecked ... but it was 4 months ago and since that i made thousands of photos and its working fine. Remove the ring, i did it by forcing it, twisting and when removed - lens error was not appearing. I fixed that ring and placed back with a little super glue. Everything is ok.

Lens error, restart camera.

I had the same problem with my powershot and with the batteries going bad super fast. The way to fix it is to empty your memory card of all pictures then put it back in the camera blank. That should take care of the problem and should pro;long your battery life as well.
