Has the AC jack been damaged in the Linksys, due to pulling of the cord? Try wiggling the plug at the rear of the linksys to verify the connection. Check, reseat ALL cables. If it's connected to the ISP modem, can you use a Ethernet cable on the Linksys to the computer to verify signal? It may be bad, hard to say for sure.
If you are good using a soldering iron on a PC board, you can replace the power adapter jack on the motherboard. If not, you should take it to a repair shop and have it taken care of. The cost to have it repaired at a shop should not exceed $50 including the part.

You can still use your laptop even if you take out the battery and run on ac alone. You can also leave your battery in with the ac plugged in for 4 hours to charge it even if the laptop is off. Hope this helps. Thank you.
STEVELAMBERT, Double check your wifi switch position by taking a small flat head screw driver, and pop it loose and see if the post to the wifi switch is broken, if not properly reseat the wifi switch over the post. If that does not correct the issue, open the memory cover and reseat your wifi card.
