If you cannot get the computer to go into safe mode then usually only option it to attempt repair, if you have the windows cd then load it into the computer and boot from the cd, when it comes up it will ask if you want to attempt a repair, when it finishes try to reboot back into normal mode and see if its ok, if not you may have to reload from completly (and lose all your data).

I have a hp533x. When I turn it on it always says that windows wasn't shut dw properly. Even though it was. Then it ask if I want to start in safe, normal etc mode. I have tried all modes only to come...

it could be win32 virus which has wiped one of your files that starts pc you might have to do a full windows xp reinstall check youtube to find out how to install windows xp.....if you downloaded something recently you can do a system restore through safe mode.... restart the pc when the first screen comes up press F8 a few times it will then ask you to start in safe mode and a few other options try selecting the option (boot from last known good configuration) if that doesnt work then resart the pc again then press F8 again few times then safe mode options will come up again then select safe mode hit enter key then let the files load it will look different when it starts press start then all programmes then select accessories then select system tools then select system restore dont use the default time to restore select different restore time pick a date on the next screen click on it then click next the pc will restore the pc to when it was working properly of that date you select..it will restart itself if that doesnt work you might have to a full system recovery install windows i mean again you will find videos on youtube showing you how to install your version of windows warning it will delete all files on your pc and then reinstall windows it will be like a new pc....bonnell

When I turn my laptop on everything seems okay. As soon as I click on anything it freezes up, and will not unfreeze.

Hi,

You may have a virus on the machine or another unspecified windows (assuming it's Windows) issue.

I would reccomend testing in Safe Mode.

- Turn off.
- Tap F8 immediately after switching on.
- Choose 'Safe Mode'.
- Test.

If it works ok there, then you may need to reinstall windows.

If still freezing, then you may have a hardware issue. Some further tests like HDD/Memory tests may be necessary.

Toshiba satellite L675 freezes after startup. Windows &

Boot the computer into "Safe Mode".

To boot PC into Safe Mode follow these steps:

1. Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
2. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
3. Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected, not Repair Your Computer
4. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
5. When you are finished with troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would

If the computer boots into Safe Mode you can try disabling Startup Programs, one of these might be causing your computer to freeze. To do this follow these steps:

1 Press Start. Type msconfig into the search bar and press Enter. For XP, click on Run and type msconfig there.

My 900hd netbook won't boot

as soon as you turn your netbook on, keep tapping F8 until another screen pops up, then select start up repair, If no problems found and doesnt work. repeat the process but choose safe mode with networking, then click start and shutdown, try and reboot as normal, If doesnt work. Select safe mode with networking once again by repeatedly tapping F8 as soon as you switch on your netbook. Please download tdsskiller.exe (exe not the zip) to your desktop using this link at the end. Once downloaded please double click to install. Once installed open and run a scan, once scan complete, select cure and then rebsart your system, start system normally and that should solve the problem http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684
Please rate if helpful, thanks. P.S tdsskiller is a freeware and will not cost you a penny.

When I start up my computer, i cant access anything on the screen. It just freezes and then I restart it and then it does it again. Help!

it is probably a program that starts up overloads the system resources, so everytime it starts it freezes. what you can do is go into safe mode (go into safe mode by hitting f8 right before windows logo comes up when you start your computer, or right after dell logo. either that, or if you restart it wrong, it should give you the option of going into safe mode) then when you log onto your account, a window will pop out, just click yes. then either go to start menu on run(if you have windows xp) and type msconfig. then a window will pop out, when it does, go to the startup tab, and uncheck all of the boxes. click ok, and click restart, (for windows 7 its the same thing but instead of using run, just type it in the search bar on the start menu). go to start windows normally, if it still doesnt work, when you restart it, go to last known configuration. Hope this helps. If you need any clarification, just let me know, ill check in. Goodluck

Windows xp on my hp pavilion laptop starts up and freezes at the windows is starting up screen. Will not do anything after that...just sits there! Help....without having tech fees and charges!!

Try tapping F8 as soon as the computer powers on.
Try Last Known Good Configuration.
If that doesn't help, try safemode.
While loading to safe mode, it will ask whether u want to try system restore.
Start system restore and restore the computer to a previous date when it was working fine.
If that also doesn't work, the only option is to reinstall Windows.

Frozen Toshiba P100

Try This. Restart your computer and as soon as it boots up tap the F8 key repeatedly until you see windows advanced options menu. select safe mode. when it asks you for the operating system just hit enter. as soon as it boots to safe mode do this. click start> run> type msconfig then hit enter. On the system configuration utility click on the startup tab then select disable all. Click apply then close. restart your computer again. It may be a corrupted startup program that is preventing your computer to boot up properly.
