Hardware issues? Try removing the hdd and ram, reconnect power. If in dos mode complaining that it has no hardware, check ram and hdd. If it still does it, I suspect a GPU issue.

It sounds like a driver problem, normally the microphone is off on-boot-up. It should only be opened by a program wanting to use it.

Have you tried turning it off in the operating system, rather than the BIOS?

Download the correct drive here.

Hi Anonymous,

I am assuming you are using Internet Explorer browser on windows 7 operating system so you may try opening Internet Explorer, click tools, then Internet options and content tab. Now in content advisor check disable option.
However, if you are using a different browser or operating system do let me know.

Try a System Restore and select a restore date before your problems started.
To get to the System Restore - Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

It looks like you may have to go about it differently.
If you press F8 and go onto the DOS menu, you will be able to access an earlier time by choosing the restore option. The viru is a windows based virus and will not affect the menu. If you cannot access the menu, I would download Symantecs' Norton Antivirus, and run that.

If you purchased an aftermarket battery this might be a permanent problem. If it's the original Dell battery you could try updating the BIOS via the Dell Web site.

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

I would manually un-install, and then reboot so the system could re-install. Also do a complete system virus scan, just to be sure
that a bug isn't operating.

Yes...the liquid is toxic. LCD solution can be highly toxic and ought not be touched. I would definitely put it somewhere where your cats can't get close to it, and bring it to a repair shop.
