You did not post the make and model number but the problem is the thermal protection in the motor area. The motor area on most driers is under the drum and the front lower panel is usually removable. Unplug the drier and remove the panel and look in that area with a flashlight. You may have a lot of lint debris in there. Contrary to popular belief, dryers are not maintenance free. Get a vacuum cleaner hose and clean that area thoroughly.

Will I need to replace the thermal fuse as well?
IF the unit is heating, no you wont need to replace that fuse. The problem you are describing is related to the protection of the motor and not the heater / burner assembly.
