You may have a drive belt that is worn or broken. Check the drive belt for slack condition see if it is not slipped off idler pully wheels or the belt tensioner. I had one that was streched out and was very slack on the pully wheels - I had it replaced with new one and was fine to go. There is a device on the back of your tractor to release the transaxle for manual pushing your tractor about with out starting the engine. Make sure the device is positioned correctly for running mode (engine) - There is a symbol on the back to help you know what to do. The tractor manual has good trouble shooting info and if you don't have one, try googling for it with the model number of your tractor - you will be able to download one free to your computer for viewing it.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Hi. I have an Alko T18-102HD ride on lawn mower

I had the same problem with my Alko going slow in forward and reverse. Believe it or not the problem is caused by a build up of grass cuttings around the hydro clutch mechanism. If you follow the mechanism from the foot pedal you will probably find the actuator is being prevented from engaging by a build up of old grass. Clean it out and you should find it restores normal operation. This has happened to me a few times so now I blow out the grass on a regular basis with an air compressor which stops me having any problems. It also stops a hefty bill from the service dealer :-)

SOURCE: craftsman riding lawn mower won t cut grass

Does it die when you attempt to engage the cutting deck? If so the you might have a clogged fuel filter, bad gas, dirty air filter, bad spark plug.
Or the mower engage switch may be faulty. They are located in different places on different mowers. But should be attached somewhere along the main pivot of the engage lever. Let me know if you need more assistance. Good Luck!!

I have a Murray 17.5 HP Twin 46" automatic drive riding mower that only moves very slowly. What are possible causes?

If the transmission is hydrostatic and has some hours on it, the transaxle may be going bad. If this has been getting worse as you use it. If the problem happened suddenly, could be a belt loose or stretched.

Husqvarna 24hp VTwin Hydrostatic 48' cut riding lawn mower will not move either direction.

I would check the drive belt going to rear end if not that I would check fluid level in transmission.

My Husqvarna riding mower is just a few years old. It now has problems driving uphill. What would cause the mower to operate normally on flat surfaces, but make it struggle to go gradually up a slig

A hydrostatic transaxle could be low on fluid, or have leaky pump or motor. Check the fluid level. If it is not hydro, check belt from the engine to the transaxle for tightness or slippage.

Hi, it sounds like the hydrostatic drive is getting too hot. Remove the battery and battery cradle and clean all grass and debris from around the hydrostatic drive and cooling fins. Also check the fan wheel on the hydro is not damaged. Regards Phil.

I have a husqvarna YTH150 hydrostatic kohler motor 1995-1999 upon starting it takes many tries then when started its like its on a steady idle it'll idle high then low in a steady rotation until it cuts...

Sounds like fuel starvation, clean the fuel filter and lines, make sure there's no muck in the fuel tank. It's also possible the choke is sticking, although the exhaust would smoke and smell of petrol (gasoline).

WHY IS CUT UN EVEN? MOWER LEAVES LINES IN LAWN

My 10 steps to ensure even cutting for any riding mower.
1. The rear tires must be the same diameter i.e. same tread type and the same amount of pressure
2. Level the deck following the instructions in the manual
3. Make sure the blades are not damaged or bent.
4. Make sure the deck nor its attachments are bent
5. keep the blades sharp and don't drive too fast when mowing.
6. Over lap rows about 20%
7. Cut the grass at intervals that ensures you never cut more than 1/3rd the total length of the grass.
9. Make sure the underside of the deck is free from chunks of clippings.
10. Use a blade with higher lift, yes you have to match the blades to the type of grass you cut most often, (commercial mowers use a universal blade and high speed decks).
