Invalid Configuration information

I have another B130 with problems. (Did they ever make a model like this that had no problems?) When I turn the power on the meter bar shoots across and then goes into this screen and says Invalid configuration information-please run setup program. When I first turn it on there is no F2 or F12 appears on the screen. Any ideas how to get into setup?

I cannot get it to go into anything! t just goes from the dell logo screen to the message about having Invalid configuration information and then stops there. Is there any way to make it get into the setup screen?

Invalid configuration information

Start your computer and after the BIOS screen disappers , begin rapidly pressing PF8 until the Windows Boot Options appear. You should see "Safe Mode", "Boot from last valid configuration", and "Normal Mode", and maybe a few others. Select "Last Valid Configuration." Computer should sucessfully boot.

Dell B130 Laptop BIOS LOCKED

On alot of motherboards, and I don't know if I would have access to this one or not, there is a set of 3 pins coming out of the board itself, usually with a jumper on 1-2 position. Somewhere next to them, maybe some text like PWD CLR ? Usually, moving the jumper to 2-3, clears the password on the BIOS, as a failsafe back up. If it does look, 'comfortably' like that, don't change anything else. It usually takes only a minute, under battery power, to clear it. Once done, move the jumper back to the 1-2 position.

If you don't see it clearly, write back and I'll see if my Technician access allows for the detailed info. Also, please include the Model # amd Make of your Dell unit.

How to know dell 370 precision battery

If the battery is changed, that will mean that the BIOS was set back to january 1 1980.
Go into BIOS, set the clock to the correct time.

For DELL 370 precision , here is the BIOS instruction:

Replacing the Battery caution.gif CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide. notice.gif NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer.
A coin-cell battery maintains computer configuration, date, and time information. The battery can last several years.
The battery may need replacing if you have repeatedly reset the time and date information after turning on the computer or if one of the following messages appear:
Time-of-day not set - please run SETUP program
or
Invalid configuration information -
please run SETUP program
or
Strike the F1 key to continue,
F2 to run the setup utility
To determine whether you need to replace the battery, reenter the time and date in system setup and exit the program to save the information. Turn off your computer and disconnect it from the electrical outlet for a few hours; then reconnect the computer, turn it on, and enter system setup. If the date and time are not correct in system setup, replace the battery.
You can operate your computer without a battery; however, without a battery, the configuration information is erased if the computer is turned off or unplugged from the electrical outlet. In this case, you must enter system setup and reset the configuration options.
