The issue could be several thing,s but a couple of thoughts given the age of the dryer and home.
From a dryer standpoint sometimes the dryer drive motor fails by shorting out internally. The electrical short will cause the breaker the blow. If you are handy with a digital multimeter check for continuity across the motor.
From a home standpoint, the circuit breaker over time can wear out and trip early below the rated amperage. Since it is a gas dryer that is probably not the issue but check the wall outlet the dryer is plugged in to by testing another appliance with similar amperage draw.
Good luck with your troubleshooting!

SOURCE: whirlpool electric dryer keeps tripping main circuit breaker

First off, be sure the pigtail is wired correctly to the back of the unit. Black and red to the outside terminals, white to the middle, green to the frame or cabinet (should be a green screw close-by). If that is ok, you probably have an issue with possibly a bad pigtail, bad outlet, wiring issue, or possibly a bad circuit breaker or breaker box. Probably going to be more of a electrical problem than a appliance problem. Good Luck!!!!

SOURCE: Amana ALG443RAW Gas Dryer will not heat up.

you can remove the lower acess panel (2) 5/16 screws along bottom. youll get a good view of workings there. turn on dryer (make sure a heat cycle is selected. you should see the ignitor light with in a few secs. if not unplug the ignitor(small white connector maybe 6inhes back from ignitor itself) and with a meter ck for 110v in that connection when unit is turned on, if you do have 110volts , you hav abad ignitor. ifyou dont get 110 volts you need to check the thermostat(s) located on top of the heater box right above the ignitor, if no continuity you need a new thermo.

How to troubleshoot an Amana LG8319W2 Gas Dryer with no heat?

If you've changed the 2 coils and are still having the same problem, the thermal fuse is likely bad. Below is a video demonstrating a typical thermal fuse replacement for your machine. Most Amana products are now Whirlpool.

Amana dryer does not heat sufficiently

The problem is the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html

2year old ge dryer trips breaker when it's turned on, but sometimes will run a complete cycle before it shuts off.

HELLO THERE
Electric dryers require the use of a 220 volt line. The dryer heating elements run off of 220 volts. An excessive draw of electricity, or a short in the wiring can blow a fuse or trip a breaker. This happens to protect sensitive components from damage, and to help prevent fires. Every other dryer component operates off of 110 volts, the timer, motor, etc. Usually when a fuse blows or a circuit trips, it's because there's to much draw on the power line.
It is very possible for one part of your dryer to work fine, and yet another to have a problem, such as a short circuit. A short circuit may be caused by the heating element, internal wiring, or the main power cord.
To troubleshoot this problem, unplug the dryer and check to see if the circuit breaker or fuse remains on when the dryer is unplugged. If they stay on, it's more than likely the problem is somewhere in the dryer.
If your fuse blows, or the circuit breaker trips when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the circuit breaker, fuse box, or house wiring; contact a professional electrician.

OK I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

My gas dryer's igniter glows, but gas valve does not open. this occurs up to three tries. there is no schematic to be able to test and isolate problem. Is there a schematic available for Amana LG8319W2...

im sure the theory would be the same as the whirlpool, in the whirlpool, they have this flame sensor, if it senses the heat from the igniter, the it would open the solenoid valve to release the gas to ignite and hold it open as long as there is flame present.

it could be a defective flame sensor.

cheers,

Dryer

I had a question recently from my daughter and her husband about their dryer that was doing the same thing. Dryers are usually 240v and they are connected to a double circuit breaker or two 120v legs of some kind and a white neutral wire. Dryers will have lights and indicators working if one side of the double circuit breaker trips, and if it happens to be that hot leg that tripped.
First go and reset the circuit breaker or replace the appropriate fuse(s). It should work fine.
