Cant get my hitachi dz-acs3 ac adapter battery charger to work

The light will not come on when it is plugged in and the batery is set in the charger to charge, even with the dc out power supply the dvd cam will not work, could the charger go bad? does this happen often?

I've got the same problem. This camera has been VERY rarely used in recent years, but battery was properly charged up initially. I think charger worked a couple weeks ago but just tried it and the charger seems completely dead. Tried multiple things; even took to a camera store to check my sanity. I think they've got a real FLAW here with this failure. Stinks! Because really expensive to have to buy replacements for all these parts of the adapter/charger to know which part has failed!! So Frustrating!

Remove the battery and use the power adapter that came with your camera.

if you want to purchase it, you can go online to websites like ebay.com or craiglist and purchase it using your credit card. you can also get it for free shipping, it shouldn't be too expensive there.

My hitachi camcorder says I need an AC adapter/charger

Hi Riannasmail,
You need a camcorder to charger DC cable,it looks like a battery with a trailing cable that has a DC plug on the end that plugs into the Hitachi battery charger.If you are in the USA you should be able to buy one for about $8 to $12,if you live in UK you will be ripped off at about £24.
I made my own adaptor and charger system for less than £20,If you need more info please contact me.

Finalizing the disc

I have the same problem,, Maybe we have the wrong ac charger???? I don't see anywhere on the camcorder that will connect with my ac adaptor. I have no manual, I got the camcorder from a fleemarket...

Buy a 2 hour battery and you can finalize it with it fully charged.

Damaged DVD-R Disc

Try to play it by connecting camcorder through the ac adapter/charger which will further connect the battery, so this means you do not have to put the battery in the camcorder rather get it through the ac adapter/charger and format if it asks to. I recovered 1 disc by doing so!

Codecs anyone?

I have the same camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.

I can't charge the battary.

Disconnect DC power cable from AC adapter/charger. Battery charging will not be possible if the DC power cable is left connected to the AC adapter/charger.

Do I have to use the AC adapter/charger when finalizing a DVD-R disc?

I got a hitachi camcorder at a flee market and it did not come with an instruction book. Everything is fine up to the part where I have to finalize the disc in order to play it back on my DVD player or whatever. I have all the cords but don't know where the outlet on the camcorder is, in order to plug into the ac charger.. In other words: Where do I plug the cords. I can't find anything on the camcorder that will ssupport the cords,, Is there a hidden slot somewhere on the camcorder???? Please help, Email me at...... [email protected]
