ImageMixer 3 SE for SD. Can't Create Disc, Save Files to PC

ImageMixer 3 SE for SD. Create Disc, Save Files to PC & Write Back To Camcorder options all greyed out, can only Browse & Authoring & Exit. User guide was supposed to by attached as a pdf but that isn't there either. I've downloaded latest version from Pixela website and the damn thing still isn't working - any ideas? I only want to create a disc?

I have the same problem. I am able to transfer video from my Canon HG20 easily enough, but the format m2ts is not supported by Windows Media. I can't select "creat disc" in the menu... wtf? What video softwre are people using, because ImageMixer sucks...

Me, too. Quite a club we have going.

You don't need a mac, you need Canon to use a regular harddrive technology to allow you to download files to your pc. Not some software that doesn't work.

This has to be the shittest software ever! I've edited my clips in the editing mode but can't do anything but save it as a working edit. The file format is useless for anything but this program so all you can do is edit to your hearts content and then edit some more. Complete waste of time. I tried connecting the camera (Canon HF10) and that took away all editing options. Could only burn straight to DVD or upload to computer. For such an expensive camera this is very disappointing.

My issue was that I couldn't find the option of 'pc'. With the camcorder plugged in, the power on, and the USB connected I found I was able to get to the menu once I pressed the camera/play button on the bottom of the LCD screen. Once I pressed that I had the option of playback on the computer. I selected that and the Pixela application started up and I was able to access the 3 buttons that were previously grayed out. Good luck!

1 set the mode dial to camera ( this is the little logo you set when you want to see your video on the camera it is on the back of the camera) on the canon it is the blue camera logo
2 Plug the camera on the wall ( not on the battery)
3 Plug the usb cable to the pc
4 On the camera screen choose PC/Printer with the joystick
5 press on the joystick to accept the selection
6 open pixella
7 the option transfer fro pc is available click on it
8 wait for pc to read memory card
9 chose destination for saving ( param/ pref)
10 click save
11 click execute
12 open your destination file and you will see the video being transfered.

P.S. I am french speaking so the name of the function choice may be a litlle different because I try to translate those as accurately as I could

Make sure the usb cable is connected to the usb port on the back of the computer. Imagemixer will then open and all icons will be functional.

Make sure the camcorder is not set to the photo mode. Make sure it is set to video mode, before selecting PC Connection type. Then when you load the software the options will no longer be greyed out. Now if I could just figure out how to get video I've moved around and reorganized to show up in the list to be moved back to the camera?

This is a lame design but unless you connect the camcorder to the computer those options will not be enabled.

This is given in the FAQs.

http://www.pixela.co.jp/oem/canon/e/imagemixer3_se_canon/qa.html

Setup - There is a menu not selectable in [ImageMixer™ 3 Launcher].Following menu items cannot be selected when the camcorder is not connected.
- [Create Disc]
- [Save Computer]
- [Write Back to Camcorder]

Solution #7 worked for me. I can't believe it, but when I plugged the USB cable into the back of my computer all the ImageMixer icons became available and I could finally copy. The SD card reader must be different in the front of my PC vs. the back. Weird. I never had this problem with my Panasonic, and it used the exact same card.

I never expected canon would supply such idiotic software. It combines files before creating a disc. Does anybody know how to write a disc without combining files? Is there any option in the ImageMixer 3 SE software to disable combining files? Worst part is, they dont even supply proper help files or instruction files. I wish i had bought some cheaper camera now instead of canon.

Make sure you have these things done before importing:

1 - Camera power on
2 - USB Cable plugged into the Camera and the Computer
3 - POWER CABLE plugged into the camera and an outlet (IT WONT LET YOU CAPTURE OTHERWISE)
4 - Select the "Computer" setting after the camera is plugged into the computer.

Good Luck Everyone! AND GET A MAC!!! Everything is 1000 times easier on the Apple systems! PC Will give you head ache after head ache until your head will explode and your only cure will be a mac!!!!!

: ) Happy editing... it'd be easier on a mac.

Solution:

download 'Video Convertor for Mac' from http://www.applemacvideo.com/mac-video-converter.html

There is a trail version which places a watermark on the video, but you can upgrade to the full program for $39 excl. tax

A bit easier solution what worked with the ImageMixer3 1.0.1.15: when you have finished editing then select all thumb pictures and go to save panel where you can use the save button. This allows you save your edited material as m2ts-file. You can author a disk by importing this file to either DVD or AVCHD list and press write button.

Unable to transfer videos from Canon FS300 to my pc or network drive

MOI is a computer file format used primarily to represent information. MOI files are associated with MOD or TOD files whose content they represent. The Pixela ImageMixer Video Editing Software should allow you to save your videos to your hard drive. But you may need to install the latest version of Quicktime Player (free) to view the the .mov files as an alternative to the ImageMixer program's viewer. Pinnacle Studio will work with your camcorder. You can either plug the camcorder into the computer and capture the video to your hard drive or you can import the DVD into the hard drive.

Looks like Imagemixer isn't available anymore according to a Google search.

Sound Recording problem

Don't know if your problem exactly like mine, but playing back recordings in the camera always have weak sound. However when editing the clips using Imagemixer 3 on your computer, the sound is louder and you can boost it even further with the "Adjust Volume" function of Imagemixer.
