I am looking for a Zenith XBV243 owners manual and remote. DVD VCR combo

If it is the same problem as mine, the drive belt is old and worn and is slipping- therefor the tray will not open. I found this out after I removed the metal cover, and the screws holding the DVD assembly to reveal the motor, pulleys, and drive belt. Now the real problem is to find a replacement belt. Possibly a o-ring the proper size may work, as they are quite easy to find. The original belt has a square cross section, whereas an o-ring has a round cross section, but should work well enough.

If no little switch on back, it must be a selection in the setup menu.

On the Zenith, turn the power off. Hold down the Channel up or down button on the machine itself (not the remote) for 5 seconds, it will say RF03 hold down until it says RF04.

According to what I find on the XBS245, it's not a DVD recorder.

I dont know this make, being in UK., but generally this problem is caused by belt slipping or mecha misalignment.

This DVD is a player only. You can't record with it. You can record to the VCR from your TV only.

I have one of these and was looking to solve the problem of no sound from the VCR only, Then I saw your message and thought this would help you.

You may need to try a cleaning disc to remove dust from the laser heads, as dust may be impeding the player from recognizing the disc type.  Also, double check the manual to see what disc formats your player can handle.  All players have a variety of formats they accept or reject.  If the owner's manual verifies that it does accept that CD format, try the cleaning.  If that doesn't work, it may an issue that will require an authorized service center to look at, which may not be work the cost as replacement DVD players are very inexpensive.  Avoid combo players such as the DVD/VCR combo, as when one quits performing, you either have to replace the entire unit or add a new single component for the bad one.  Hope this helps!

You cannot burn a DVD on the XBV243. It is NOT a DVD recorder. You CAN record onto a VHS tape from a DVD (copy-protected commercial DVDs cannot be recorded)
