I have an sl502 camera that I bought new for my son and shortly after I bought it it stopped working. It beeps 3 times and does nothing. I am very dissatisfied as well as disappointed with this product....

Hi Jim

If the camera was bought new and is less than a year old, return to the store where you bought it and ask about warranty repair, or call the Samsung from the paperwork inside the box.

The camera sounds like it has a stuck lens, either from being dropped or maybe getting sand/dirt into the lens gears and jamming it up. There's not much you are going to be able to do with it, lenses are very delicate and complex. Some may tell you to blow compressed air into it or bang it on the table, you can do these things if you like and don't mind risking further damage to your camera.

So: Less than a year old? Warranty repair. More than a year old? Might have to pay Samsung for repair, I don't see refurbished lenses available for this model and a new lens would be about $125 or more. Hope this helps.

There is something wrong with my samsung l100. the lense is already out and when I turn it on and a beep sounds which lasts for like a second and then looking at the screen it is all blurry, i cant take...

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

I just bought this Kodak easyshare C183 on friday last week and opened it up on today and lens door will not closed it says lens obstructed

Hi,

I will strongly advise you to have this camera sent for repair as it is new and still under warranty. This is a failure of the lens mechanism and cannot be easily resolved. There are a number of user procedures you could try as to the causes and potential solutions for a stuck lens or problem with the lens door/mechanism at this FixYa Tip.

However as you will see this issue is not something that is easily repaired by a consumer and that tip is designed for cameras that are out of warranty and is a means to hopefully avoid the only alternative of an expensive repair.

In your case the camera is new and under warranty. Have it returned immediately to the vendor for repair. You do not want to invalidate your warranty by trying anything that might make the manufacturer unhappy when you return it.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Nikon 70-300 VR lens has suddenly stopped autofocusing. Lens has never been dropped, nor is there any apparent external damage. Does not autofocus either with D40x or D5000.

There is nothing at all you can do to fix this on a DIY basis. If the lens is under warranty then return it to Nikon for a free repair, but if not then in many countries, Nikon Authorised Service Centres offer fixed price repairs subject to a few obvious conditions (e.g. no evidence of unauthorised repairs, no liquid damage, etc.).

If you cannot benefit from a warranty and cannot afford a repair then you'll just have to get used to manually focussing it.

Camera lens

Lens is probably just stuck because of debris or misaligned gears. The lens can many times be repaired without having to replace it. It's probably misaligned gears inside. Try to return to manufacturer. If you're out off warranty, there are third party place that fix them such as camera lens repair. There are also free camera repair guide website that show you how to replace the lens, the part is usually available on ebay.

Lens stuck half way outm weird beep sound can I fix it

I get the three beeps also but the lense is fully retracted. I'm no expert but I've had this camera fixed once (would not focus) and is going back in for this latest issue. I like the little thing but I wish it would not break as much as it has. On the other hand I've had great esxperiences with smasung's warranty service. If your camera was purchased less than a year ago it is still under warranty and a quick call to samsung will get you a shipping lable to an authorized repair center free of charge. You only pay for shipping to the repair center.

Good luck

It wont turn on, And the zoom is extended.

I had exactly the same problem. Lens stayed open, when powered on you get three beeps and nothing. I found when I pulled the lens out a little harder it gave a little click. When I powered on it worked perfectly.

Camera wont turn on...gives beep sounds and green light glows when pressing power button

Does the lens extend in either of these cases? If there has been some malfunction in the lens and it fails to extend the situation can cause the camera to power-off in order to protect itself. Some cameras show error messages before powering off, others do not. Hold the camera up to your ear and turn the power on. Is there a series of mechanical sounds before the beeps? Hearing sounds but not seeing the lens extend indicates some sort of failure in the lens assembly. If you hear nothing then the problem most likely lies elsewhere, possibly a failed electronic component or something as simple as a loose connection. Check with your manufacturer for any recalls or technical bulletins, and see if they will service your camera under warranty. If not there are a number of repair facilitys available on the internet who generally have better rates than out-of-warranty service at the factory. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
