Reinstalling windows on desktop

I have an old Packard Bell desk top, model UTOW-PAR and would like to reinstall windows on it as it has become rather slow. Sadly I do not have any of the CDs that came with it originally.
I was wondering if I could use a CD I got with my Hewlett Packard laptop (HP Pavilion DV1000)? The CD says Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2.
If this does work, how do I do it? Is there a baby-steps guide to reinstalling?

Thank you

I believe it has Windows XP Home.
It has two stickers in the front, one says ' Designed for Microsoft Windows XP', and the other one says 'Intel Inside, Pentium 4'.

OS sticker? Is that the one in the back? With all the numbers and such?

You will not be able to get the drivers for the packard bell computer, especially for windows XP. the computer was discontinued way before XP came out, as well as the company going out of business. There is a new packard bell company, but based in Europe only. In addition, when you use the HP cd, it will probably say not compatible with non-hp computers.
your best bet is to download you important information and store it on a new unit.

I have an old packard bell pc and it needs to be rebooted but i haven't got the original floppy reboot disc how can i do it without the disc ?

By rebooted, I assume you mean reinstalled? You cannot reinstall a PC this old without the operating system disk. New PC's have a utility partition that contains the reinstall package. You will have to purchase that OS from ebay or some other site.

Hello,I need information on hard drive speed and approx gigabit capacity as fitted to Packard Bell UTOW-R10. many thanks, David. [email protected]

if you are replaceing a hard drive all you will need to do is make sure you match it up to IDE ATA133 or SATA type connections. otherwise the hard drive info should be printed on the top of the old drive.

Packard bell utow co20

Please look on the case of the PC, fron back & sides. There should be a model number. (There is no such number you posted, Packard Bell UTOW CO20).
