Broken wire in wire harness clip

Today I pulled the radio out of my 1993 Lincoln Town Car so I could put an aftermarket cd player in it. When I pulled the radio out, the clip that connects the wire harness popped out and when that happened the metal park that connects the wire to the clip broke in half and now I can't hear any sound from either the radio or the cd player. Is it possible to solder it back together to make it work? If not, how much would it cost to have it replaced and installed? No one knows and I asked Best Buy and they said "Well if I told you how to fix it, my job would be kind of pointless then..." Any advice would be great, thanks.

I'm not sure what part is broken from your description but i will try to help...

you can purchase something called a reverse harness that looks identical to your vehicle's OEM harness that plugs into the factory radio. the only difference will be the wiring color on the new harness will be standard aftermarket wiring (ie 12volt yellow, ign red, ground black, etc.) and if you cut each wire from the OEM harness and solder it to the reverse harness location for location then the new harness will be good to go. i would personally do this as a single wire at a time so you are not staring at 16 cut wires going to the new harness. check at Best Buy and see if they carry the 71-1770 Metra wiring harness and that will be the one you need as the reverse harness and if you are installing an aftermarket radio get the 70-1770 also. if you aren't comfortable with all this your local installers should be able to do this job for you pretty reasonably.

I have a 1995 lincoln town car signature series that im trying to put a aftermarket cd player in i was tole that i have to cut the wires from the amp in the back and run them to the cd player is there a...

Before you cut the wires try Walmart and Auto Zone and look for a Conversion kit. They run about $5 and give you a connector that will fit the factory connection and allow you to add the aftermarket device. I know for a fact they have them for aftermarket radios and I'm pretty sure they have them for a separate CD player if that is what you actually have.

no, you can purchase wire harnesses at any auto parts store or walmart that will hook right up to the original wires in the car. about $7.

Can not find wiring harness for '95 lincoln towncar

If you cant find the wiring harness i'd suggest you snip the adapter of and join the wires up *Correctly of course*

Modern CD players normally have a sticker or information on which wire does what on the CD player.

You just have to work out the ones on the Lincoln then.

Lincoln town car 1995 radio won't turn off

I have seen people remove the factory radio, cut the harness and splice it to an aftermarket headunit, then attempt to reattach the factory harness they cut off to install the OEM radio back in proir to sale. Try removing the radio and look to see if the wires have been tampered with. If so you need to reconnect the harness wire by wire and use crimp connectors not the twist and tape method. Otherwise the electrical system has been altered elsewhere. The ACC lead to the radio should power off the radio when you turn off the ignition no matter what unless the electrical system has been modified.
