I have a cannon eos xsi was hiking up a hill & got some sweat on the camera when i got to the top of the hill gave to my wife & she was reviewing the pictures. when the camera suddenly turned off. we thought it was a battery problem as she had taken close to 500 pictures that day.when we got home recharged battery and would'nt take shots says error 99 and to repower. will show all pictures we taken but will not take pictures help please

Try using manual focus. Make sure your auto focus points are correctly set. Look for button that looks like matrix. Press it then use/press joy stick type button to select auto focus point.
Have you not used it since dropping it in the river? You could try opening it up, giving it a rubbing alcohol bath and then putting it in a bag of rice overnight to set rid of any moisture.
Hi, The black photo problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to cannon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replcae the lense sensor for free of cost. Thank you
The XSi is not weather sealed like the 580ex II and is suseptable to liquid damage. Most cameras will take a few sprinkles and won't have a problem, but if the liquid got into the main body it might have issues. The top of the camera around the hotshoe is particularly sensitive.
I would doubt it could be self repaired. Take it to a liscensed repairer to have it looked at.
