Monitor flashes image for split second then goes blank but green LED flashes as well

I have had the ViewSonic VX924 for about 1.5 years. Just this morning when I moved the mouse to wake up the monitor, the screen flashed an image for a split second and then went blank. However, I noticed that the green LED flashes as well. I have plugged in other computers to the monitor and all display the same result. They work fine on a different monitor. I have read in the manual a working that too high a resolution and refresh rate can "permanently damage" the monitor. Any help appreciated. I'm not sure if I even chose the right monitor as my product. But I have had a KDSusa monitor that would go black when I booted it up. If I turned the monitor off then back on it would display an image for maybe 2 seconds tops then go black again. I sent it in and they sent me a diff. monitor. This one did the same thing after having it for a while. My dad said the brand must be cheap so he gave me his 19" LCD. This monitor I had for a few months and it has started the same thing but this monitor if I turn it off then back on about 5-6 times it will stay on. What could this be?
