Cant download to mp3 player element electronic(gc-802)

Go to the manufacturer's web site via this link:

http://www.elementelectronics.com/support_downloads.html

Select gc-820 type mp3 player and click on "get driver". After downloading decompress and install the software. Try the player update tool and perhaps you should repair your device using this utility.

There will be a small hole by the side of the device. put a pin to reset it. Or you can format it by quick formatting by plugging it to the pc.

You should be able to download the driver here: http://www.elementelectronics.com/support_downloads.html

Just select "GC-820" on the dropdown menu after "MP3 Players"
Then, click "Get Driver"
It should start downloading it to your computer.

(FYI: GC-820, GC-821, GC-822 and GC-823 are all the same model of MP3 player, they're just different colors)


Since you posted this under "Mac Laptops", though, I'm not sure the driver will help you out. According to Element Electronics' website (http://www.elementelectronics.com/products/mp3_players/2g-gc-800/2g-gc-800.html), it looks like the MP3 player is only compatible with Windows machines.
If you *are* on a Mac, try just plugging your MP3 player into the computer and see if your computer recognizes it.

I'm not sure if this MP3 player will work on a Mac though. Plug it in and see if it shows up in Finder.

Wmv format is the best for a mp3 and MP3 format is also useful. Thanks :)

check to see if your files are MP4, vs MP3. MP4 files won't play in this player, so you'd have to convert them to mp3.

You may not need to format your player. Depends on how your songs are named, are you working with mp3's or wma's? Some software to name or tag wma's do not transfer the names to other players if not sync'ed togrther. Same for some mp3 tags. If your computer is a Vista you may have to go into compatibility mode to install - also Xp has some same features of backwards compatibilty. Try to download new software from manufacture. Then try and find freeware mp3 / wma tagging software. re-tag a few songs and see if they come up on screen. Dont format untill there is no other opption.

Try reformatting the drive first. If this doesn't work then you will need to reset.

To Reset, put the slider into the locked position and then press a pin into the reset button on the back of the player.

If none of this works, return it to the store you bought it from.

The GC940 DOES play videos. I have successfully converted movies to AMV format and played them, Sometimes the sound will however be a bit low.

Use this program. Make sure you have the updated codecs on your computer, and convert AVI files to AMV, then move them to anywhere on your player. I use a movie folder, and rename them to the movie I want. A full 1.5 hour movie will take about 200-300 mb of space.

Please keep in mind that the movie does have to have an AMV extension, not MP4 or MPEG.
