You may not need to format your player. Depends on how your songs are named, are you working with mp3's or wma's? Some software to name or tag wma's do not transfer the names to other players if not sync'ed togrther. Same for some mp3 tags. If your computer is a Vista you may have to go into compatibility mode to install - also Xp has some same features of backwards compatibilty. Try to download new software from manufacture. Then try and find freeware mp3 / wma tagging software. re-tag a few songs and see if they come up on screen. Dont format untill there is no other opption.

I downloaded music onto my element gc-820 then go to listen and it says no file what the hell

The following may help:
- Ensure that your Music files are of the correct format (usually .MP3 or .WMA suffix and usually NOT .WAV which is the standard CD format). - Ensure that you upload your music .MP3 or .WMA files to the correct directory and names are not excessively long as some MP3 will limit the max name length. If you know a working song on your MP3, locate the directory it resides in and put your songs there. - Lastly, if you have put your song with the correct naming convention/suffix and you now see them in your player list but they will not play, then your MP3/WMA file has non-compatible 'property' whcih is usually the encoding 'bit rate' (usually anything under 128mbps fix rate is good but you can see what is acceptable by looking at the 'properties' of your working songs that are on your MP3 player)

My element mp3 cg 922 wont turn on after i charged it for hours, i also dont have a manual for it and i dont know how to download music to it.

there are two ways you can download music onto your mp3
  1. you can go to your my computer icon on your desktop and go to the mp3 player file then you can open up a new window and go to where all ur music is and drag and drop the music from one folder to the other so that you will have your music or
  2. you can go to your windows media player and go to sync and choose the music files you want on your device and then press sync when you are all finished finding all of the music you want onto your mp3
hope this helps you and if you have any other questions just ask

I can't get my music from my computer copied to my element mp3!

download a program called "media monkey" this will automatically load your player with songs to the most efficient use of space. It's a free version that you can upgrade. Just google it.

I cant put songs on my mp3 player

I have a GC-920 (I think. It doesn't actually HAVE the model number on it.) that I got for Xmas 2008. After reading the rather sparse manual, I decided to bypass the included mini-disk altogether, and just see if plugging it into a PC would let me access it as a removable drive. It does. So to get music onto it, I can just copy the files over from my hard drive to the Music folder on the internal 2 GB memory of the GC-920. I have the music in folders by group names, and some of those have individual subfolders by album name. It all works just like In Windows XP Explorer on the PC. When one album plays out, the player will move to the next album by that group (or performer) and play it. when it has played all the albumes, it climbs back up the folder tree and gets the next group's music. However, this is where MY problems began. :-(

Things worked fine for about 3 weeks. But then the player started "missing" songs in the files. When I investigated, they all seem to be there on the player, and in the proper order. Some are even named with numbers preceding the tune, as ripped by Nero. But the PLAYER is arbitrarily sorting the songs and ignoring the numbers. I tried deleting the whole folder, and then re-copying the songs back onto the player. But it will put them in random sequence like "17,18, 19, 20, 1,2,3,4,5".

If anyone has a fix for THAT I'd like to know. I can't find anything on the player itself mentioning "play lists" or such. So I am going to try installing the CD and see if that helps.

I hope the info above helps you out.

take the mp3 player off hold and re-sync your music. i bought 2 of these players for my mom and dad for christmas and loaded them up before giving it to them. i had the same problem where it said it had music on it but it wouldnt play and played around with it for a bit. i fixed it by taking it off hold and re-syncing everything and it worked.... good luck.
