My friends got an Acer 5630 and it wont power on. When you try and turn it on the power light comes on and it sounds for a couple of seconds as though it is going to load, but doesn't. The power light remains on, as does the battery light at the front of the laptop. When you initially turn it on and it sounds like it is going to load, the loading light doesn't flash, however the loading light on the dvd rom drive flashes and then goes out. I've tried to turn it on with just the battery in (both the original and mine, I have the same laptop) and not connected to the mains, i've tried with the battery out and connected to the mains and i've tried with the battery in and connected to the mains, none of which works. There is a chance that there may be a cd in the dvd drive but i have the same laptop and have never had an issue. Can anyone help?

If the laptop is under manufacturer warranty, I recommend you take it to the nearest service center. There is a very good chance that the system board needs replacing.

Hello my friend,so you don't have activity from disk activity indicator, but are you hearing any beeps? If no and you try with the power cord too this could mean that CPU is dead or motherboard is dead, you should take it to a repair shop because its hard to find out by your own what is wrong without the knowledge or the tools.
hi welcome to Fixya!
Have you heard any sound or a beep aside from the fan that whirling. If you heard any, you need to change the memory or if its built in plug a new one. if things still the same, the problem is, your video card. bring it to the nearest service center and ask for assistance. Im sure they would love to help you!
have a nice day!
no "lock" button but there is a function button to switch the primary monitor from the built in one to an external one. on the lower left han side of the keyboard there is a key labled "function" hold that down and look along the top row of buttons (f keys) one of them has a green or blue picture of two monitors, with the power turned on try holding the function bution and the f key and see if it comes back on. also there is a brightness key as well make sure it is all the way up.
Not to discourage you but I just sent back 4 of these same models to acer for warranty for the exact same problem. All four of them however did work with an external monitor.
Hi This sounds like a tricky one. If you plug everything in and turn it on at the mains do any lights on the laptop come on? Does it do anything at all when you turn it on? If you get back to me I can proceed to help you further. Good luck! Phil
reinstall os from cd.by shutting down in that manner he was probably in the middle of something and didnt close the program resulting in missing sys32 files which is why it wont start.this type of thing happens often and not only for that reason.
do you get anything at all on screen .
can u enter setup(bios)
try removing memory ,make sure free from dust and replace.
no screen is either missing memory, fault with hd(bad sectors)
fault with bios(hardly ever),damaged or dislodged graphics card or damaged cpu(processor)
You can try basic troubleshooting. Unplug the laptop, takeout the battery. With the laptop still unplugged, put the battery back in and power-on the laptop. If that doesn't work and you hear no beeping sounds, the motherboard maybe bad and needs replacing.
No....
