Big Shot k65s240250e2. How can I replace AC adapter?

This power pack is virtually unknown. Look on the back for a socket and connect a mains lead. It is likely a simple connector that looks like the figure '8'.

If you're unable to turn on your laptop there's a big chance that you're having power issue. Consider checking your Battery, AC adapter and DC In port.

1. Basic troubleshooting for battery is by reseating it. Kindly make sure to put it back properly.

2. For the AC Adapter, check the light indicator for it. If it's not defective you'll see the blue light on the brick. You may also try using other AC adapter with same power supply. And if other AC adapter works with your PC then it's the AC adapter that goes with your PC needs to be replaced.

3. One of the possible cause for your computer not to turn on is because the DC In port for the machine is loosed. No power will flow from your AC adapter to your PC.

If after checking and still computer won't turn on I will now recommend you to contact the manufacturer. Lenovo offers repair if machine is under warranty.

It's not the battery than. If you ask me - two possible problems:
1) The AC adapter is shot to hell and you need to replace it
2) The motherboard input plug is damaged and you need to service it.

Further diagnosis:
Test the AC adapters output plug with a voltage meter (if there is nothing than that's the problem, if you get a positive reading - its fault nr 2)

You can also try to borrow a AC adapter of a friend (only if it's the same model) and plug it in.

Try removing the battery, and AC power, and pressing the power button down for about 15-20 seconds, and then try powering on the computer with just the AC power plugged in (no battery installed). If this works then the battery may be shot, and would need to be replaced (if you can find a suitable replacement). If it doesn't, then I would advise bringing the unit to an authorized service center to have the AC Adapter tested with a voltmeter (unless you happen to have one). The power adapter should give off a voltage of approximately 19V. If it's not, then you may simply have to replace the power adapter, either with one specifically for your model of laptop, or with a Universal AC Adapter (and you will probably need a rating of at least 75W, 90W would be optimal). If the power adapter tests okay though, then it most likely is the power coupling (the hole where your adapter plugs into. Repairs to those can usually range anywhere between $150-$300 USD for parts and labour). Hope this gives you enough information to work with, and hopefully gets your issue resolved!

If the battery is shot, remove it and see if the system will power up on AC only.

If not change, check the output of the AC adapter with a Multimeter set on DC voltage. It should be 15 to 20 Volts DC current at the connection end for the computer. If low or no voltage, replace the AC adapter.

Sound like the battery. Take the battery out and there should be a power meter on it, press it, if there are three lights that flash, the battery is shot. Not all batteries will flash if they are worn out, but they are supposed to. Try a new battery, I believe this will coorect the issue.

Is the new power supply a Dell. Some aftermarket power supplies, especially Targus, will not charge the battery in a Dell. If it is a Dell supply, then it's one of two things. 1- the battery is shot and needs replacing. 2- the power management chip on the motherboard is shot and the motherboard needs replacing. If the battery light is flashing orange then the battery is shot. If the battery light is green, then go into the power settings and see if the machine shows that it is charging. If it doesn't show that it's charging then it's the pm chip.
