I have an LG MU-42PM12X tv that is a few years old. It has worked fine until last night. It has developed a red line about 1" wide running vertically on the left side. I've found the exact same problem on a different model of the same brand. It seems to be a commom problem, a bad control board. The other site I found says that there were thousands of these tv's sold with faulty boards. Would my tv use the same board, or is it model specific? Thanks,Mark

First you must clean connector contacts between plasma module and driver boards, if not solve the problem and continuing increment of wide red line, may be you must change plasma module to solve this problem,
Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..
The problem is that the panel has failed. Apparently this is a common problem with LCD TV's between 18 mths and 3 yrs old. If it survives over 3 yrs it is likely to last for a few years longer. The cost of replacing the panel is more than a replacement TV!

Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan
