Sony MHC-EC98P DISPLAY COMING ON THEN SHUTTING OFF

Pretty sure you just press the display button repeatedly to shut it off, but here is the manual just in case I missed it:

Does anything work? If not the unit is one sick puppy in need of tlc/repair.

I have MHC-GN90D display cable broken while opening where i can buy?

My Sony Mini MHC-GX470 have been working until a power outage yesterday and now it will start coming on the goes back to standby mode. I can hear it going through the system, starts the radio and immediately goes to STANDBY.
I need HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

REPLACE CAPACITORS IN THE AMPLIFIER SECTION OR OUTPUT CIRCUIT

change the lightbulb behind the display and it works again. sony repair charges 45 euro for it. you can also put a led and a resistor behind it.

cold reset your hi fi system, by powering on your system then while holding stop button press disc 3 and power at the same time.

one of the out put tran is short ,
there normaly 4 to 8 of them
screw to a big heat sink ,
easy to get to.
check with a volt meter
then google the part
they cost 8.00-12.00

SONY MHC-EX50

Het is al een paar weken verder, maar ik ben eruit: C161 en C162 (100uF/35V) in de voeding zijn slecht.

wel 105 graden elco's gebruiken en hoger dan 35 volt, liefst 100v

et gaat dus om een VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) die geen gloeispanning krijgt. Het vervangen van C161 en C162 lost het probleem helemaal op.

Symptome=Tuner-Display zeigt nichts an, sonst Tuner OK.
Defekt=C161 und C162 (100µF,35 V) auf der Tunerplatine ersetzen.

Wenn bei dem Sony-Tuner RDS EON ST-EX100 (z.B. zu der Anlage Sony MHC-EX5, aber auch MHC-EX 70) pünktlich eine Woche nach Ende der Garantiezeit die Beleuchtung im Display wegfällt und man deshalb leider keine Sender mehr programmieren kann, dann handelt es sich vermutlich um eine fiese Soll-Bruchstelle.

Auf der Platine des Tuners sind zwei Kondensatoren zu schwach ausgelegt und gehen zwangsweise früher oder später kaputt. Die Reparatur ist ganz einfach. Man kauft zwei neue Kondensatoren (100µF,35 V) - kosten nur ein paar Cent! - und besorgt sich einen Lötkolben. Dann schraubt man den Tuner auf, entfernt auf der Platine die Kondensatoren C161 und C162 (die sind namentlich gekennzeichnet) und ersetzt sie durch die neuen.
