I have a combination cassette and cd player and I want to hook it to my PC to download cassette tapes for the purpose of burning them onto cd,s.I can't get it to play.

If it won't play tapes by itself, it's possible that the belts that turn the mechanism that pulls the tape through have worn out, or there is some other problem with it.

Recods Recods or taps to MP3 File foremat

I have found a turntable called ION PROFILE Pro It connects to your USB connection and can rip your records or tapes to MP3 songs. It have an input for cassette tapes or 8 track tapes it also alows you to store them then in digital format. t can connec to 8 tracks cassentt tspes and has a plug in to plug into your sterero system and can paly records as well. You can connect it to your stero system and if yo have a mp3 device for your video recored you can recod music here as it has a volumr control as well. It uses software called aduacity that converts vinal taoe ti mp3's and ajudio converter that allows you to burn music in standard music format. This is an inexpensive set up and costs $79.00

How do I convert cassette tapes to CD

Hi Ann,

FIrst off you'll need to connect your cassette player to your computer with either composite cables or a red and white sound cable that is on one end and a single stereo plug on the other side. Once you get that connected, you basically have to play the cassettes to the computer and the computer will record the sound (since you plug the sound in like a speaker to the computer) and then save the file for later burning it on to a CD. You'll need some software that will allow you to capture the sound and record it. Examples are Nero, Windows Media Center, VLC, eSoft's Super, Quick Time Player. and many more. Once you play the cassette completely through, the software you use will have type of formats that you can use to record the music. I would choose AVI as my type. Then once you have the AVI file, then burn it to a CD for playing on a CD player. The burning software (windows comes with one standard, but there are many CD burning software products for free) will convert the AVI file into the CD players format so you can play it on the CD player.

Good Luck

How can I record a music cassette to a music disc on my Magnavox DVD recorder/ VHS --Model # ZV427MG9

You can't burn a CD-A with the ZV427MG9. The unit will not burn to a CD to play in a CD player.

You may be able to record the audio to a DVD with no video source. Connect your cassette player to the Line In audio ports (L/R) at either the back or front of the unit. Depending on your cassette player, you may need a 3.5 mm M to RCA F/F adapter to connect the RCA audio cable to the cassette player's headphone jack. Do not connect a cable to the video input of the composite input unless you have a video on a camera or something to play back. This means that the recorded video may say "No Signal" or will be black or static. (Note: this may not work with this signal issue.)

Set the unit to record to DVD on L1 or L2, as needed, by pressing Source on your remote. Advance the cassette to where you want to record. Press Rec on the DVD unit and then press Play on your cassette player. If you want to identify tracks, Stop the recording and play back and then press Rec and Play again. You are at risk of having issues with the volume during the recording. Clipping of overly-loud sounds and distortion is possible.

When done, finalize the disc, if desired, to play the disc on other DVD players.

If you want to make an audio CD, you would be better off using a computer and connecting the cassette player to the Line In jack of the computer. You do have to make some adjustments to avoid recording the default Microphone input. Use a program like Audacity or any other audio editing program. Record the signal and divide it into tracks, if needed. Now you can filter out any distortion as well. Then save as a WAV file. Use a different program to burn the WAV files to a CD-A. (This must be burned as a mastered disc; my attempts that worked on an older CD player failed if there were gaps between the tracks. Lots of programs will do this; Roxio Creator is one option.)

The manual for the ZV427MG9 is available here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I CANT RECORD CASSETTES ONTO A FLASH DRIVE

You can't. Cassettes are analog and the USB only recognizes MP3. The USB will only record off a normal CD or a CD with MP3s on it. It won't record other formats. The unit only allows to record from CD to cassette or from CD to USB. There are some cassette decks that will convert to MP3. Just do a search for "cassette to MP3 converter"
