NO PC stated at all,
Just HP, 1000s exist. w10 can run on PCs even 2005 made. even some newest Pentium 4s/D/HT .
The why to clone is easy use better software.
I can tell the PC is old, dinky HDD and worse ram.
must be w10 -32 bit I my guess,

No target HDD stated, a SSD is best for the target drive, is it?
from C to target drive,
NTI is not best ever. it is underdog class.

why not use top software for this,
pitfalls: all
cloning and and infected PC.
cloning a HDD that fails smart tests I bet your does as it is super old.
cloning UEFI enables PC (non stated)
cloning any PC with HDD encryption enable (reverse that first)
here is how to do it.
I've done this for 25 years, vast times, in fact.

software can not make any HDD bigger.
a partition maybe but the platters can not be make larger or deeper. ever.
like making your car into a truck, same thing.
the software must change the ID of the drive as the last step or w10 will not clone.
only real cloning software certified for w10 will work. some of the best are free.
    or last 30 day trail.
    avoid NTI.

SOURCE: Creepy 'USB' issues...

During setting up computer with drivers etc. System file could have become faulty some files not registered in System
You could have System file errors these files are the heart of O/S
whereas the reg is the blood if System file are faulty things do not work properly.
Go to C:\ right click properties / Tools / error check new box popsup
tick little box to fix errors and reboot
On reboot windows will check disk for errors and fix them
If this does not help please email me at [email protected]
Give a details description of what happens

SOURCE: having problems upgrading my laptop hard drive !!!

From what I gather basically you want to copy everything off of your 40GB and put it on the new 320GB and the install correct? Why don't you do a backup (Start>All programs>System Tools>Backup to the external 500GB drive. Install the new 320GB drive and then load the operating system from your operating system disc, then restore the data from the 500GB you backed up, or am I missing something.I know it is not as convenient as cloning but sounds like you may need to do it the old fashion way..there is no good reason that the cloning software would quit reading your disc unless it's some kind of "only get one chance and throw away software".

Should I remove Windows Vista on my Compaq Presario Laptop? It is installed as OE but I amm told Microsoft does not support it anymore

For the past few upgrade cycles I have upgraded by purchasing the best value new computers with the OS installed. I connect the old computers to the new via a home network. The newest has Win-7 and is much faster, however, the learning curve is steep getting all the old stuff to work. So for some stuff I still rely on the older machine. This has given me the best results.I still use Vista and XP, but if you feel compelled to upgrade do to security reason I would follow the following outline.
  1. Back up on an external USB drive all important documents. You must do this if not Murphy's rules will apply and it can be a train wreck!!
  2. Down load Acronis from Western Digital website. Make a Boot disk.
  3. Create a clone copy of your master C:/ drive on an external USB drive.
  4. Purchase a same or larger internal PC master C: drive "It must be a Western Digital for the free version of Acronis to work"
  5. Replace current drive with new.
  6. Using Acronis boot disk boot up and connect USB drive
  7. Clone new drive from USB with vista OS using the Acronis boot disk and confirm all is well
  8. You now have a way to go back. Your original drive still has the Vista OS with all your Junk and the new drive should have the same.
  9. Using the new drive go to the Microsoft website and go for OS seven. Keep your clone copy of the vista OS on the USB drive in case the seven blows-up during install.
  10. Retain the original C: drive with the vista OS in case you get into difficulty with the new drive.(mark the drive with date etc)
I have successfully done this for computers and keep a drive loaded with a known good OS for the day it all goes bad.

Sync-toy is the backup program that I use to keep everything up to date.

Hope this helps?

Cloning Disks

Cloning an existing hard drive, whether it is a HHD or SSD can sometimes be very frustrating. Using the disk drive manufacture's cloning software does not always work, it may report allocation size, block size or sector size as being in compatible between the two disks. I have spent a great deal of time trying the different suggestions on the web to fix this problem and none seemed to work, that is, until I came across HDCLONE.
This is a free software utility that automatically corrects these incompatibility issues. The software can be found at www.hdclone.com . I have used this software to clone disks for two different laptops and I have not had any problems. I think the only limitation is the destination disk for the cloning must have a larger capacity than the capacity on the original disk. I cloned from an installed hard disk to a USBSSD and to a HDD/SSD hybrid disk and the cloned disk booted up and worked fine.
This software can be used either to clone an existing small disk to a larger disk, or making a backup disk that can be installed and used if necessary.
The cloning process from a 500Gb to a 1Tb disk took most of the day, so I would suggest you start the process when you go to bed so I will be completed by morning.
Let me know how the software worked for you.

Has anyone upgraded an Epson P-5000 hard disk to a larger capacity drive? if so how is it done?

Hard Disk Upgrade Can I upgrade or install a larger hard disk drive in my Viewer?

The P-5000 includes an internal 80GB hard drive which is specifically designed to work with this product. There are no hard drive upgrades available for this product. If you try to install another hard drive, it may damage or adversely affect the operation of the product. This type of damage or operational failure is not covered by the product's warranty.

Upgrade hardrive

This could be due to the fact that Dell places an image on the original HD to enable restore/recovery functions. Cloning is possible but you risk the ability to restore to factory condition afterward. Seagate has DiscWizard to do this and Maxtor has Maxblast.

I need to upgrade HD for dell inspiron 9400. How can I copy old HD keeping original factory config?

Download Hiren's disk and on teir their are heaps of cloning tools. My favourit is Nortons Ghost. This will make an image of your hard drive and burn them onto a dvd for you and once you have done that install your new HD, boot of the Hirens disk, start Nortons ghost then burn the image of your old HD onto the new one and then you can continue your computing from where you left off from.

I am trying to replace hard drive with a larger one in a acer extensa 5420. Going from a 120Gb SATA (Vista pre- loaded) to a 320 GB SATA. Also having problems loading vista ultimate on new drive.

if you want you can try using acronis. its fairly simple and can handle your transition to the larger drive. are you upgrading to vista ultimate?

to handle the clone, download the acronis and it has a trial 15 day version. have a usb to sata connector available, you can pick this up for about 20 dollars at most computer places. turn on your computer normally and attach the new drive to the usb connector and let it load up in device manager. then from there load your acronis, in acronis select the tools/utilities and select clone hard drive, leave everything standard and it will start the process, it will ask you to reboot and from there clone your existing hard drive as is only on a larger partition size now. if you are comfortable with acronis you can change partition sizes if you like to suit you. what kind of problems are you having with vista ultimate?
