Hi. My toppy has decided to play up. I can record fine but on playback, have black screen with message "service is not running or scrambled". Audio is fine though. Any ideas? Thanks, Gayle

Record in slow mo mode, then playback in fast forward mode ;) Problem solved. You'll see the video in normal speed.

SOURCE: No playback pics. Blue screen. Can't record.Used x2 since service.

I just made contact with a service tech who seems very competent and who won me over. Have problem with video and audio dropout similiar to dirty heads on a 10 year old DCR-VX2000 but which is a larger problem attributed to worn parts which will need replacement. Do not know how old your unit is, but will share name of person/company if you wish. Only thing that worries me is if you by chance had had yours repaired by them!!! They are a Southern California company.

It appears as though the camera is not "reading" the tape. Though the tape is clearly playing (in the mechanical sense) during playback, the screen remains blue. The same with recording - The...

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Olympus DS30 voice recorder play speed issue

Hi, the solution to the problem seems to be the following. When u press play, once, you get 1x play. If whilst playing you press play a second time the DS-30 goes into slow play mode, and if you press a second time it goes into fast mode. For those of us who accidentally went into either fast or slow mode, just press the play button again, during playback, until "play" appears on the LCD screen. Apparently it is as simple as that.

Vidio recorder when i record it wont play back what is recorded but it will play pre recorded tapes Is it campatable for LG television please model no VR550/07

If it plays back pre recorded tapes then there is nothing wrong with that section of the unit. Does it playback audio and not picture or does it not playback anything.
Also, when trying to playback a recording what is seen of the screen? Snow(black and white dots or wiggly picture?

The unit uses two separate circuits to record and playback tapes. Is any thing else connected to the unit while you are recording? If you are using anything plugged into other ports on the recorder it may not see the camera input causing it to not record anything..

Records media but playback has no audio.

Are you absolutely sure that it is receiving an audio signal?
What input are you using? Try recording using alternate inputs.
Audio part of a VCR is normally way more reliable than the video.
The exception is on high-end stereo types where they record the extra audio signals using the video head cylinder in which case it can easily be lost.

Black screen when recording but records audio.

This model Sony has a known defect in the CCD image sensor which will cause the camcorder to record a black picture or smeared picture. When played back, the sound will be fine but the picture will be black or smeared. Your older tpes you made before will be just fine when played. Sony is fixing this for free, postage paid. Go to their site, go to the support area and put in this model and you should be able to find the notice for this problem. They will send you a paid UPS shipping label to print out. You'll have your camcorder back working in about 2 weeks! :) Mike63
