If there's ice on the freezer floor it's usually caused by a blocked drain, when the fridge goes into defrost a heater comes on and melts the ice off of the evaporator coil, under the coil there's a drain, this can get blocked, the water can't drain into the drain tube and the water leaks onto the freezer floor, next time send the brand name and model number.some machines newer bottom mount freezers you have to change the drain tube,if it's an older fridge this happens, you have to melt out the drain and clear the tube,i use a steamer to do this but you have to shut the fridge down, get at the drain melt it out with hair dryer then you can try a turkey baster to push water through the drain hose and see if it clears, sometimes you might have to remove the back bottom panel, find the drain tube and snake a plastic wire tie up into it to clear the junk in there.hope this helps.

the freezer back inside wall might have to be removed to get at the drain, you can go on utube, put your model number in and find out how to take the freezer apart to get at the drain,it's just a hole under the evap coil with a drain tube so when the ice is defrosted off of coil the water can drain down to drip pan where the water evaporates.

SOURCE: Ice buildup on the coil and ice buildup on freezer floor

you will have to unclogg it..hot water/hairdryer..flexible tubing to push out the clog. the ice on evap coil bothers me though. do all the coils get frosty white(close the door for 10 minutes then check) I fear they aren't and you have a freon leak.

SOURCE: ge monogram bottom freezer ice maker spills ice

It takes weeks for ice to dissipate in a freezer.
You may can adjust your cut off lights or wire cut off to cut off before it's so full.

Freezer drain is clogged, I guess, water dripping on the floor, ice buildup on bottom of second door, it has an ice machine built in, what do I do? I'm a female.

Good Morning Andi.

the good news is that the fridge is not likely doing this because you're female, and your description of what has happened with power outages sounds like that's very likely the culprit - a fair amount of melted water dripping, then power comes on and freezes water in the drain.

I don't know your specific model, or if you know where the drain is. it's likely down in the bottom of the freezer compartment. If you remove the lower drawer, or unpack the lowest area, the floor will likely slope toward either an overt hole, or to a slit/hole in the back. If there is actual ice frozen on the lowest shelf/shell of the freezer, you'll want to get rid of it.

Easiest and safest route (as in least likelihood of damaging the freezer or hurting anyone)
  1. Turn the fridge off. It won't be off long enough to risk much thawing, but you don't want the cooling coils actively pulling heat from what you do in the next step.
  2. Hot, even scalding water. Especially if there is overt ice at the bottom, pour small dribbles in at the edge. Some will go across the ice and melt a bit of the bulk. Some will trickle down between the ice and the freezer floor. Do this a couple times, then see if you can pry up sections of the ice from the floor. Pull out as much as you can of the bulk ice. You'll likely want to get a couple of towels out since you'll likely get some water on the floor.
  3. Once you've cleared overt ice from the freezer floor, pour some more hot/scalding water onto the plug, or into wherever the floor slopes to. Be patient and don't pour too big a volume. Ideally, after a few modest pours, you'll get water coming out from under the fridge. If the lower panel will pop loose, get in and use a towel to pick up as much of the water as you can. pour a bit more hot water through and verify it pours through to the floor (or possibly a catch pan).
  4. If you get this far, dry the freezer floor as best you can with the towels, replace the drawer or any unpacked foods, close the freezer, and turn the fridge back on. It will probably be back to normal.

    Good Luck!

Model No IK 458 -4-4T; Product No 925 780 652 02 Ser No 14100010. I get ice build-up on floor of fast freezer comp which jams pull-out basket.

If the defroster coil is not working, then ice will build up on the coils inside the back of the refrigerator.

But, you're saying that it's accumulating on the floor of the freezer jamming the pull out basket.

I would say that the timer or overflow valve is bad on this refrigerator causing ice to build up on the floor of the fast freezer compartment causing the jamming.

Maytag Plus MSD2556AEW - frozen puddle on freezer floor

Here I am going to give you a lot of information. Because of the leaking your defrost condensate drain is most likely the reason. All on the page below may not be for your situation and some refrigerators do this over a period of time and the the water has no were to go but the freezer during defrost. Frigidaire, ice on floor of freexer

check to see if the defrost drain is not frozrn over or stopped up
this is the only way that water can get into the freezer
frost could and melt but dont think that i would check the drain at the bottom of the rear freezer panel if you see ice it is stopped up for sure
if all is clear there go to the ice maker, have had some that are overfilling and runnig over the ice maker into the bottom of the freezer

Water leaking onto floor

unplug it again , sounds like your drain line has frozen, instaead of defrost water going down the tube and under refrig in drain pan, becuse tube is frozen its draining into freezer compartment and eventually spilling out through front of unit. totally defrost unit and behind back wall of freezer youll see a metal trough designed to catch water, in the center (under the ice is gonna be the drain hole, pour boiling water down until it runs freely
